  1. First, CONGRATULATIONS to Raider-Nation on a victory that will never be forgotten.

I wasn't at the game and haven't watched the DVR yet, but I did have a flashback to 1975 when I heard the score. Another HHS team that was "better than sliced bread" got shocked in their final regular season game to spoil a "perfect season". The key is to put this loss behind you and focus on the task at hand...WIN STATE! The blemish will always be there...nothing y'all can do about that now...but it DOES get easier to accept with a state championship title!

Secondly, kudos to Coach Warner for manning-up and scheduling the Birds twice a year, when some teams won't even do it once!

  2. Well, for starters, you want to discount YAC and I don't think you can do that. If football stats eliminated YAC, then you might as well take Joe Montana and Steve Young out of the Hall of Fame. I saw both Trevor and Nick play. They were both very good QB's with high IQ on the field. You say you liked Trevor's toughness, as if Nick had none. I saw Nick West take some of the hardest hits I have ever seen and he would pop right up and run the next play. So if we are going to throw out stats and base this on toughness and QB IQ, then I call it a draw. Both very good QB's and great leaders. They are both also great young men off the field.

    ...and THAT is what matters!

  3. Might not be as lopsided as being predicted. Birds coming off a bye week and reading all the "press" about them being better than sliced bread just may lead itself into a "flat" presentation. The team from Park Hills may play above itself in this one. I look for the Birds to win handily, BUT it may not be the beating of the past couple years.

  4. Heard Coach Mueller say last night that Highlands tried to play NCC this year but NCC turned down the game. Also heard him say that Highlands contacted NCC about a game next season and NCC turned him down.

It's sort of like Pete Rose and the HOF...as long as Bob Schnieder is alive, it ain't happening! LOL!

  5. The bands work VERY hard during the week and then have their own COMPETITIONS on Saturdays. Most only play for home games due to money concerns AND travelling can wear out a band the day before a competition. I agree that the backgrounds for bands have become QUITE EXCESSIVE..but that's what it has come to these days. If you enjoy bands and good sportsmanship (musician-ship?) you really need to check out one of the competitions. The talent of these kids is just as amazing (if not more) than the players on Friday night. Dixie and HHS both have excellent bands!

  6. I've been told that Ross Meek for CovCath is an absolute BEAST. Was on the O-Line but has moved to D-Line and has seemed to found a home. Anyone know his number? He'll be super-motivated as his cousin was a former HHS All-Stater and gave him an upclose and personal look at a couple of HHS State Rings!! This should be a WHALE of a frosh game!

  7. The problem is with the fine educational system in Ft. Thomas. The Bluebirds get graded on a tighter grading scale than other teams. (97-100=A with no curve versus the 10% curved scale where 90% + = A). They are held "accountable" to not only be better than the previous year, but to HHS' BEST year. It's not really fair, but that is how ALL HHS teams have been and will always be "graded". It's sorta like what Dale refers to when he says "this team is built upon the shoulders of all other HHS teams." But as in school, progress reports are just a tool to help achieve the final grade (State Champs).

Henry...keep smokin' that corncob pipe of yours, it's still preferred to the tin of mush the old man uses! LOL!

  8. There was an incident a couple of years ago at a HHS vs. Pendelton Co. post season soccer game. The PCHS student section was next to the HHS parent section and at the end of the game, which HHS won, the Pendelton students threw cupcakes at the HHS parents. I believe there were plenty of Pendelton parents around but the throwing of cupcakes continued.

Well, afterall, we ARE cake-eaters!! LOL!

  9. When his receivers are covered he has run very effectively the last couple of starts. OL for HHS played great and downfield blocking was outstanding. The block by Sheehan to spring Towles on his long TD run was impressive!

AGREED! OL looked superb...and congrats to Jason Waldenmeyer (Jr./OT) on earning his first varsity start. Excellent game...keep up the good work! And the WR have gotten much better at downfield blocking...thus, the long runs! And look at lil' ole Froggy scoring 4 td's, getting his picture in the morning paper AND interviewed by the illustrious Ryan Ernst. WOW! A season in one night, LOL! We definitely will be hearing more from this scat-back...and he's only a soph-o-more!
