  1. Should be a great game! Clark can beat Mason and they know that, they are confident. Mason are the defending champs and know how to win. Could be a memorable game.

Mason has been impressive in the regional and Clark has looked sluggish! Will it be a game of will and tempo?

It should be a great game, I think Mason is rolling right now, but if it is close and it comes down to being fired up at the end of the game, it will go to GRC. For the 2nd regional game in a row you couldn't find 2 Mason students sitting next to each other in the entire place. Funny  The Fieldhouse is always packed when Mason plays at home and everyone has to travel to their place. Take them out of their home gym and no students show up? defending champs? maybe the kids are tired of winning? The other 3 teams had fans that traveled well tonight.:idunno:

  2. It is stuff like this that I think has Willie doubting whether he wants to coach or not next year. You have made comments all year regarding the fact that no seniors were on the team this year. I will ask you how many tried out? What senior that did not play could have helped this team? If a senior really wanted to play then they should have come to practice and made the coach cut them. There are some people that I know personally that did just that when they played. Perhaps if some of the football players that played all summer would have come out then things would be different. I will ask you as the parent of a football player, why do more football players not try out for the basketball team each year? Where was Daniel Gold this year? Where was Austin Collinsworth? I think that these are questions that need to be answered. I have a son that currently plays all three sports and I am going to do my darnedest to encourage him to play all three in high school because you only get to do it once.[/QUOTE]

Good luck with having your son play all 3 in high school. It does not happen much any more and hopefully it will be his choice in the end.

  3. They're probably not impressed with you either...

After a gutsy 3 point win over a district champion :irked:

When was the last time Mason had a close game? If the Indians will stand up to the bully from the beginning instead of waiting until the 4th quarter like they did against GRC, it could be an upset special. After beating Montgomery 35 last time I have to think Mason is looking past the Tribe. That's a dangerous thing to do in March!

    Go Indians!

Mason looks possesed, They will blow through Montgomery like they did Brossart. Remember there were many folks saying the same thing that Brossart may be overlooked by Mason after Mason beat them earlier this year. If your counting on an Indian upset, you may have to go back to the days of "Custers last stand" for one.

    See you at the game:popcorn:

  4. What was the attendance like? I heard the 9th region had a lot of empty seats a BOK.

Mason had a lot of adults watching the game but NO student section. BBHS had a nice student body representation filling about 2/3 of their section (much better than any other school on Saturday) . It will be interesting to see what it looks like tomorrow night for the semis. Maybe Mason thought it would be a blow out and didn't bother to make the trip north? I do think Tuesday will have a very nice crowd regardless of who plays.

  5. Thought this was interesting, enjoy!

Interesting to see Junior Jacob Reiger's name showing up in so many categories. Especially with the offense they run out there. I'm also shocked not to see Sophmore Kellen Smith's name not show up in points scored too. Seemed like every time I saw him he was scoring double figures.

  6. Will these games sell out ?I have never been to the new place and have no idea what it will hold. Are they going to clear the gym on Sunday?I see the game times are 2 and 8.Thanks

No chance of the arena selling out. It holds 9,500. I do not see any other games scheduled for Sunday afternoon, so unless you want to sit there with nothing to do for a few hours I'm guessing they will clear the Arena.

Saturday the 10th region opening rounds are there and for $12.00 you get 4 consecutive games.

  7. I would really like to see a N. KY 6th, 7th and 8th middle school tourney. Maybe reach out to Boone, Kenton, Campbell, Gallatin, Grant, Mason, Harrison and Pendelton middle schools. From what I've read my predictions this year would be Ockerman to win the 6th, Walton to win the 7th and a fight to win the 8th between Camp Ernest, Twenhofel, Summit View & Holmes.

Rush, don't forget about some of the Private schools in the area too. Often they will have a nice team or two in the area.

There was a Middle School State tournament a few weeks ago at the KBA. It brought in some of the best teams from the state.

We just need someone to step up and cordinate a Northern Kentucky middle school tourney.

  8. It's still about the players, I bet if you asked them they would prefer to play at the BOK. Scoreboard alone gives it a great feel. Do wish they would toss up the individuals stats on the big board during the game though.

I totally agree:ylsuper: The opportunity to play in a large arena will give these young ladies a wonderful experience. For those that go on to play in bigger and better places they will be prepared. For those whose careers are about over, they will remember a proud moment everytime they pass the place. The crowds will pick up as the tournament advances. Only problem they may have is competition from both the boys 9th and 10th going on at the same place in the same window of time. Only so many nights our spouses will allow us to go watch basketball.

  9. Absolutely no chance at all, IMO. The current rotation keeps the girls' 8th region closer to the vast majority of schools, and that's important to the decision-makers. This year, half the teams are within a 45 minute drive of the host school...I think only 2 teams would be able to make that claim if it were at the BOK.

Plus - from a realistic standpoint - while we can expect a pretty good crowd at SOHS this week, the girls' tournament just doesn't draw enough fans to justify the cost of renting BOK.

And - after the debacle BOK has created this year while hosting the 9th / 10th - I doubt anyone's too enthused about sending their tourneys to it!

    Well said!
