  1. Nope I just think every team should end their season on the field and not losing a tie-breaker on paper.

I agree with you on that....maybe we take top 3 and give a bye to somebody. I understand certain kids will never get a chance to make playoffs in their career but its hard to look at a 1-9 team or 2-8 team making playoffs thats all. We can agree to disagree and good luck the rest of the year whoever you root for.

  2. Yeah that's what we should be basing our decisions on, "What OHIO thinks". I for one could not care less what OHIO thinks, but then again I don't live in NKY and have OHIO Envy either.

No envy here.... not where we are at.....but lets keep it the same so little Billy gets one more week. 95 percent get blown out now why should they play....sounds like you envy somebody.

  3. There are so many flaws in the so called "Scenerios" in this post I don't even know where to start. So I will just take one of the suggestions you listed.

Take only the top 2 teams.

IF that is how the coach wants to run the playoffs, then let me ask, how do you decide the top 2 teams? Take class 5A district 5 this year. There were 3 teams all tied with only 1 loss in district play, the 3rd seed in that district had a record this season of 9-1, is that coach suggesting that the team with the best record in that 3 way tie with a record of 9-1 who also happened to be the 3 seed in the playoffs should not get to play in the playoffs? That is insane.

If a coach doesn't want to play in the playoffs because he feels they may get blown out, then don't play...forfeit the game if they have that much of a problem with it.

IF not, stop your whining. who cares if there are blow outs, it's football. I never heard so much whining over something so stupid in my life. All those that whine continue to whine over first round playoffs, follow another sport. It's getting beyond ridiculous listening to so many people cry over possible 1st round blowouts. Who is to say there aren't going to be blowouts in round 2 and 3 and even 4? Get over it already. IF you are a coach who doesn't want to play in a possible blowout game then forfeit or take off your skirt.

So lets keep it the same for the 5 percent that upset somebody.....you must be the same parent that everybody should get a participation trophy....All this everybody should make playoffs stops in grade school....beat somebody in regular season and you can move on. I agree with the 3 way tie scenario that one is tough but come on other states are laughing at us.

  4. Not for the 16 lower seeds that pulled upsets!

Not for anyone in the WYMT viewing area that watched Middlesboro at Prestonsburg last night either.

Ohio is lauging at us....i work in Cincy and they read the paper and ask why a team that is 1-9 making playoffs....get rid of first week. Do something in the regular season and you dont have to worry about being a 4 seed.

  5. What a fun game to watch, if you like offense as both defenses were atrocious. Dixie's backfield was horrible as they let 13 run wild on night. The kid was the main target on 95% of HC's throws, and they still couldn't slow him down. HC defense wasn't any better as Dixie ran all over them.

Offensive penalties in the first half killed Dixie in the end. They were in double digits with offensive penalties tonight.

The Bell kid was extremely impressive. The kid needs to touch the ball more. They need to work getting him the ball in the open. No-one will be able to take him down in space. 13 is a player too. He made Dixie's backs look bad.

Moore and Washington had huge games tonight. HC struggled to stop Washington between the tackles, and he also had a nice pick. Moore had a great game. He took a few sacks where he should have thrown the ball away, but those are mistakes he'll learn from. He really needs some receivers.

The sportsmanship from both teams was excellent. Both teams fought hard all night.

Double digit off side calls against Dixie.

  6. This is not a Frankfort vs Beechwood thread so this will be the last I will respond here. The suspensions are for this week only so it won't affect Frankfort game if we make it to that. If anything, these JV players that will get "REAL" varsity experience tonight and that will only serve to make the team deeper and more able to absorb an injury or two down the road. Furthermore, I have seen this before. You never know what kid will step up and shine. Just might be some kids that steal some spots tonight.

    I am with ya....go tigers!

  7. No, I get what you are saying and I did not word this correctly (Big surprise!). I have said all year that Frankfort scares me and was definitely not an easy win for the Tigers without Gauge Erdman and some others.

I guess the point that I thought I was making (in my head anyway) was that the team that is on the field tonight is not significantly different from what will be there for Frankfort. Less-skilled, Yes! Less-Varsity Experience, Yes! Our JV players are very athletic and will be good players given some experience.

In short, I agree. The Tigers have their work cut-out with Frankfort with or without these players. Heck, I'm concerned about 2nd round. You just never know with in-experienced players.

I do know that I will feel better when I see how some of these kids react to the spotlight tonight. It's their opportunity to step up! I wouldn't be a bit surprised if some of the suspended Starters lose their spots.

I dont know the significance of the kids that will be suspended but i would think it wouldnt help Beechwood against a team like Frankfort with that many kids out. Beechwood could still win if there is only 2-3 starters out but i would think a lot of those JV kids get some minutes that could hurt if they are out.

  8. Really? Could they beat Frankfort with this team, maybe not. They should be able to

At least 12 of the 18 kids involved were either injured or JV players. There were 2 or 3 solid Varsity players involved and it will have an effect. Probably more on defense than anything. In that case, we have some great backups. This is why Beechwoods JV does so well, they have talent. In many cases, skill-wise, there is a fine line between 1st and 2nd team players. Furthermore, our O-Line is intact and the difference maker (Nussbaum) knows how to be a leader and wasn't part of this crap.

Best case scenario for the Polar Bears is that Beechwood scores at-will and they grind out a few Touchdowns. In any case, I do not see a close game.

Now way Beechwood beats Frankfort with these kids out.....there is a good chance they dont beat Frankfort with these kids.
