So Brown will Brown be matched up on Tibbs? Cal4all and wvfrank are the best
Don't know. She did last year and it was one of her best games on D. She scored 17 and held her to less than 10. :idunno:

I need to take a pad and pencil with me so I can pass better information like paNDA! I feel bad after I read some of his after game updates.
-
Winning games they should. Lady Pioneers played very well.

Must have been because the band wasn't there. The Demons lost the home court advantage!!!!
That band is good and it sure does get on your nerves if you are visiting! :ohbrother:

Can't we let this topic die now! I think SG got its revenge.

I thought Brown for SK had a really good game. I have seen her play several times before, and this was the best game I have seen her play. Congrats to SK on the win. On the flip side, I did not think Conner took advantage of opportunities they had. For example, Toria Fisher was being guarded by Wainscott from SK. In my opinion Fisher should have been moved to the block and posted Wainscott up all night long. Fisher 5'-8 vs Wainscott 5'-2" would have been a huge mismatch. Fisher play post all last year, and is a well rounded player. Wainscott did an excellent job of playing lock down defense on Fisher on the perimeter, and held her way below her season average. I don't think the Conner coaching staff made any adjustments all night. Wainscott had a huge game offensively and defensively.
It almost seemed their (CHS) game plan was to try and physically run SK down with all the subs. I have not seen CHS play before tonight so maybe that was normal. However, Wainscott - Brown - Ponzer complete game against so many fresh legs was very nice. :idunno:
-
Still say Simon has the defense and the experience on their side. Wainscott - Brown - Ponzer have played very well to this point. Given their schedule and district / region play I am a little suprised.
However, 4 pts behind Walton and 6 behind Anderson, I don't think so. If you cannot get an inside game going when it counts you cannot beat SK defenders from the outside. It will be an interesting Regional T at SK.

Congrats and good game Lady Pioneers.
Wainscott 23-26 (?)
Brown 19
Pace (SK) a bit of foul trouble. Blevins - Stephenson - Kuntz rotated in stepped in and did real well. Turnovers way down for SK tonight which was a problem past couple games.
Conner had a nice 8-9 player rotation running but Wainscott - Brown - Ponzer played complete game. Beasley (CHS) finished with 11 Did not get the name of Conner high scorer #23 maybe.
SK 13 14 16 11 - 54
CO 11 11 16 12 - 50

Wainscott had a double double, something like 12 boards to go along with the 24 points mentioned above.
That sounds about right. She was in on a lot of rebounds.
-
:ohbrother: Ladies and Gentlemen,
This was ugly from start to finish. :scared: I think there were as many turnovers as points scored on SK's part. Hopefully, just a holiday rinse for the Lady Pioneers who have not played a game since the NKY EXPO.
Wainscott 24
Brown 12 (all in the 4th QTR)
SKHS 17 17 8 22 - 64
HOLM 17 4 23 10 - 54
Some good quick young players for Lady Bulldogs. Little 7th grader could be very good in the future.
SK was down 44-42 at the end of the third. Brown only played 2 min. 1st half drew a 3rd foul early in third and did not come back until fourth! Scored all 12 in a 5 min. stretch of the fourth. Don't know what that was all about.
SK @ Conner on Monday evening!

Kudos too the supporting cast. I thought for sure the winner of the Towels - Dixon match up would tip the scale.
-
I always tell my daughter that there are two things you need NOT complain about, the "officials" and the "venue." You cannot change either one! Get over it and play 110%.
-
Will love to see how the Towles and Dixon match up. Walton can stay with them but WV needs to hold down Towls or Allen. WV can get very "and not afraid to" physical. HH close.

We're all proud of "our" schools. Disappointing to see some of the other schools who've enjoyed more recent success piling onto a fan - and the team (read: the kids) - of another school who is celebrating a small modicum of success as that team tries to reclaim past glories.
The posts might as well call out the kids by name for public humiliation.
I've seen Oldham, and retropop is right. The team may well be ahead of schedule in terms of their re-building effort under new coach Mullins. They're young, yet they've already shown they can score a lot of points. Usually young teams learning new systems pick up the defense first and offense later... Defense will come, but expect Oldham to give up more points than many just because the opposition will always get more possessions against Oldham because of the up-tempo style of play.
Will Mullins get the defense in shape this year? Maybe not. Will Oldham contend for the region title? This year, everyone is in contention in the 8th. It's just a shame some feel the need to tear down kids in a public forum. It's not like the 8th region posts I've seen in the past on this forum...
We should all be excited about the girls' 8th this year. It's setting up to be a fantastic region tournament, with terrific battles in the various districts leading up to the tourney at SK. Regardless of how these teams measure up against the state's elite this year, the fans of the 8th are being treated to a deliriously delightful season. On any given night...

You are correct ! I apologize. You only get to see your kids through this once! Like a senior football official told me when I first started..."No matter where you are on Friday Night, it is the most important game of the night for everyone there." :isurrender:

Reminds me of the A-11 offense Trimble Co. football theory!

I guess it doesn't matter how many points you score if you don't score enough if you lose.
You DA FUNNY MAN!:thumb:
Still #1 in most scored and MOST allowed!
-
My thoughts as well. I think we could have put up triple digits against them if we wanted.:idunno:
You know it. SK had 75 when they put Wainscott / Brown / Ponzer on the bench only 3 min. into the 3rd. :thumb:
-
Good job, but I also believe they lead in points allowed?
-
Good balanced game for Lafayette.
The only thing you could say to the Lady Pioneers after this one? "Okay, now you got that out of your system, let's play basketball tomorrow!" :ohbrother:
Brown (SK) 14
Pace (SK) 12
Wainscott (SK) 6
"D" looked slow and tired. Maybe the (OT) ND game got in their head a little.
Monday 3:45 v. Muhlenberg @ ND

Which of the Ponzer brothers is the dad of the Ponzer girl on SK's team?
Guy

Ammerman (ND) has 31 "Great Job" young lady!
Wainscott / Ponzer SK very nice !
Here is what you really need to say about "the game" (if you were there and pulling for either side)! :puke:
"If you were there watching the game you'll understand."
All the girls played great basketball!

She is that type of player. "chuckhayes," has a good point (I stand corrected) even though she was Brown's assignment, her and Figgins both deserve credit for that game. Brown and Tibbs played together this summer for "Cutter's." she actually filled in for Tibbs in a game against a team from Tennessee when she injured her ankle. That team had Brown, Allen, Wainscott, Towles, Conner, Tibbs, and Beasley.
I have been amazed watching this game the last 10 years as the girls were all playing rec. together just how many friendships have developed. My daughter doesn't enter a gym in NKY that she doesn't meet / greet someone (players past and present). I watched Brown (SK) and Dixon (WV) great each other at BW's in Independence after a game earlier this year and share battle scares talking about the game. (That game was the first time they had met each other.)
Looking forward to the Kenton County Classic this week. Should be some good basketball.
