  1. I, too, have started having weird thoughts about the dangers of The Beast. I mean, even if they send it on a few test runs every morning, who's to say that a beam hasn't come loose on one side in the tunnel, or a tree didn't fall across the side rails, therefore decapitating everyone when they ride thru it!!!! I always duck my head in the tunnel anymore. Yep, getting older!

It was weird growing up, because the taller I got the more I noticed I was becoming inches away from my arms getting ripped off through the tunnel if I raised my hands. I duck as well now, because I swear if I don't my head would slam the wall. I'm not even that tall, but still!

  2. Vince is easy to forget. :D

Howard isn't a better dunker than Shaq.

I must admit, I didn't want to put Shaq because I'm a little fuzzy on remembering him in his prime. He was ferocious around the rim, no question. Dwight is a much more athletic dunker as opposed to Shaq's punisher style. I'd say the two are comparable and more a matter of preference. I will never say that Howard was a better dunker than Shaq, as I will never say Shaq was a better dunker than Dwight. I revise my claim to a tie between the two.

  3. Really?? Dolamite is the ONLY person to mention Vinsanity??

Come on guys... I don't think there's ever been a better dunker at ANY position.

    PG: Derrick Rose

    SG: Vince Carter

    SF: LeBron James

    PF: Blake Griffin

    C: Dwight Howard

Yes, I realize I didn't post any older players. That's because 1) I'm only 22 and never got to really witness the Dr. J's and Dominique's of the world, and 2) dunking has truly evolved in the past 15-20 years or so.

  4. The LeBron James I saw last night is the one whose game I fell in love with in Cleveland. When he decides to just absolutely take over a game, I'm not sure I've ever seen anything like it. I understand why people get so frustrated with him. All we want as fans is to see him take over on a nightly basis because we know he is capable, and it is damn fun to watch. Congrats to the Miami Fighting LBJ's last night. I'm looking forward to an AWESOME game 7 that I fully expect the Heat to win.

It's really fun watching a series and being fine with whichever team wins. Even though I'm way more of a Celtics fan than a Heat fan, I do want to see LeBron get his championship. Although, I'll have a hard time rooting against the Thunder in the Finals because I love KD's game also. The two best players in the world playing against each other in a 7 game series for everything? Talk about fun...

On another note, here's an article about James' performance last night. Pretty good read.

  5. Boston seems to be the better team right now. Team being the key word. The Heat look like they are far from a fluid team on offense. I'll be surprised if they can recover and win on the road in an elimination setting.

Do you break up the Heat or do you fire Spoelstra?

I don't see this team ever truly coming together. Yes, the amount of talent is UNREAL. It isn't an intelligently designed team though. The pieces don't all fit together. Breaking up the Superfriends (that one's for you PP ) would probably be the best thing for the Heat. I also think they could get a better coach then Spoelstra. Which coach would you replace him with? I'm also curious as to what moves you think the Heat should make if they were to break up the team.

  6. True, but that's my point. Is one bad and the other okay?

Public opinion more often than not dictates what is and isn't appropriate in these types of things. Based on my experience, I'd have to say yes. One is ok and the other isn't. Somehow, our society has evolved to be somewhat accepting of one while the other is completely despicable. That doesn't speak for every person, just represents the general view of the whole. As far as a logical reasoning behind why that standard exists, I can't provide that. It doesn't exist.

  7. I loved when the third horn sounded. They could have just ended it right there and it would've been great I think.

That was a great ending to the season. Do you all think I should read the books now? Does it ruin much of the suspense? I really don't want to wait 9 months to see what happens next.

  8. Wow... That game was awesome to watch. Rondo... Rondo.... RONDO.

Like MJ, if you would have told me before the game that Rondo would play like that, I would have bet my life savings that the Celtics walk away with a victory. He was an absolute man last night. He did get hosed on that non-call, which may or may not have been the difference in the game. No telling how it would've gone down from that point though.

Congrats to the Heat for keeping it together. Going to be tough for the Celtics to come back now.

  9. It had TONS of promise and actually delivered one good season and one excellent season. However it tends to get quite complacent, repeats itself, and overall gets stale. Dexter likes to think it challenges itself but throughout the life of the series there has been very little character development or risks taken.

I feel many people flock towards Dexter because of the hip and cool premise. Unfortunately Dexter has more often than not fell short of delivering on this...

P.S. If you are looking for a good drama I'd highly recommend Homeland and Breaking Bad if you haven't seen them. Homeland has only went one season so watch it then settle in for the wild ride that is Breaking Bad.

All of this is moot if you haven't seen The Wire.

Never has a show played on my emotions quite like Breaking Bad. I'm halfway through Season 3 right now and things keep getting crazier.

As far as Dexter, I do agree that the seasons have started to fall off a bit. I still watch every new episode though, mainly because I love the character of Dexter. There have been a few seasons that I cling on to in hopes that they get back on track. The premise of the show is incredible.
