Region is definitely south loaded. Could be 3 straight days of 3 hour round trip bus rides.

Simon Kenton, Boone County, Conner, Grant County that I can think of.Yes......I am asking in the Softball forum. There is a CHANCE, that we may be able to broadcast some baseball & SOFTBALL this year. We need cover and electric, so who has press boxes?? I know Dixie, Walton & Gallatin County, but who else. -
I'm guessing we will be ready in about a week.

How many kids now have to decide between Soccer and Volleyball? Softball and Tennis? Tennis and Track? Soccer and Cross Country? Golf and Soccer? This is and always has been an injustice to the girls that play softball. We are seriously looking at not having one practice before the first games of the season are scheduled. Someone really needs to make this a priority and get this changed. If it moved, how many kids would have to decide between softball and soccer? -
Needs to be moved to the fall
Ding ding ding!!! We have a winner!

This can't be serious...
Might want to take a look at a depth chart from '12 and '13.

If Maxwell Smith was 100% right now he would be the starting QB. He is the victim of poor OL play over the last 2 years.

#15 Texas A&M and #23 Missouri are the 2 teams South Carolina has lost to other than UK. Not sure why you want to call this team mediocre.SC was at home in that game, coming off a horribly embarrassing loss to A&M, while Georgia was coming in off a blowout win over Clemson. A good win for SC, but one I completely expected them to win. And I'm not totally sold on Georgia — there are five and possibly six teams in the SEC better than them. -
You asked for it, so here goes …
Beating South Carolina was a huge win for UK, but not a big win on the national or even SEC scale. South Carolina's just not that good, and their results so far bear that out. It was a big emotional hurdle getting over Spurrier, and that's to be commended given UK's history against his teams. But, SC's not even ranked. This is an SC team, after all, that lost to Mizzou at home — the same Mizzou team that lost at home to Indiana.
Win at LSU and then folks will really be impressed.
And I have not moved from my position that UK would have been better served by avoiding the creampuffs early. A better test early on and they beat Florida, who is not very good. And, they probably beat SC handily rather than struggling like they did and needing the big comeback.
I tried to avoid this, folks, but JD kept asking. Blame him.
This is also a South Carolina team that beat Georgia.

If the ball is hit to center with a runner on second and the first baseman cuts the ball, who has the throwback to first?I don't know if it is different for softball. In baseball, the pitcher backs up home and backs up third if a play may be going there. The first baseman is always the cutoff. If you have your 3B cutoff, who is covering third if you make a cut and go for an out there? -
Then who backs up home plate?
With the short backstops an errant throw can be picked up by the catcher fairly quickly. I like the pitcher to stay in the middle of the field. She can easily cut the ball if needed and make a play on a runner trying to advance. Having the pitcher stay near the circle helps to kill the play as quickly as possible. The college game is a little different because the athletes are so much better, they easily move the ball around quicker.
-
I know I may be in the minority here, but I prefer the pitcher to be the cutoff.

Looking at Highlands roster, they might hold on to that region crown for a few years.
-
Ton of talent leaving FBD. How does it look for next year with that much talent leaving and arguably the most talented player still there?
-
It was a well pitched game, but it was a one-hitter. Clean single to left after the walk ended the perfect game bid.

Don't believe that Coach Gregg coached anywhere last year and yes the Bearcats are young.
Seniors are Thacker and Ginn. They have 3 Jr's on the team and the rest are Soph's, Freshman and 2 8th graders list on the roster.
Coach Gregg was the head coach at Grant County in 2008.

Clarification- Bracken County dropped out, SK was left with no one to play.Word has it at 8:15am Softball City said fields would be ready, however only one field worker showed up (3 were no-shows) this morning. When I arrived at 4:30 Fields 1&2 were a complete disaster......they resembled a field ready to be sowed. The one worker got Field 3 looking quite playable. At 6:30 both fields 1 &2 were still a "work in progress".Right now Boone Co, Christian Academy-Louisville, & Ludlow are playing at Bartlett Field. Ryle and Lloyd played at Lloyd.
Bracket Co. & Simon Kenton dropped out.

HC lost 7-4 in extra innings to Simon Kenton tonight.
Anna Clement went the distance and took a tough loss. She pitched really, really well. I can only remember her walking maybe 1 or 2 batters and was in complete command most of the game.
HC took the lead in the bottom of the 1st. Courtney Turner collected the first hit of the year for the Indians, stole 2nd and scored on a ground-out by Clement. SK tied it in the third and took the lead 3-1 in the fifth on a 2-out, 2-run bloop single that dropped in front of the right fielder.
Turner tied it again in the 6th with a sac fly to center.
Each team then took turns missing opportunities. Clement pitched out of a bases loaded, one out jam in the 7th. HC then left the winnng run on base in the bottom half of the 7th.
SK broke it open in the 8th to secure the win.
At Beechwood tomorrow...
Who is the little catcher? She is impressive.

Well let's just change the name of the teams tOSU is in a "must win" scenario on the road at IU to avoid going into the Big 10 tournament on a 3 game losing streak and avoid being 7-9 in their last 16.SC out scored UK in each half to capture it's 11th win on the season. UK is now in a "must win" scenario vs Bama to lock in a bid and avoid a 3 game losing streak going into the SEC tourney. "Must win" scenarios are for bubble teams. -
I think the buckeye guy was taking a little shot at UK fans. Not sure why everyone is liking this post. Pretty sure almost any fan base would trade the last 5 years for any 5 year stretched in their teams history. This years recruits just didn't pan out like most thought. It happens. -
Andrews originally signed with Air Force before ending up at WKU, UK had very little interest in a QB after signing Mossakowski and Newton the previous year. Funny thing is he probably would have ended up playing QB at UK with the poor QB play from the last few years.Joker dropped the ball BIG TIME. Andrews is the exception in WKU and in state talent that can play BCS Conf ball. -
A camp would be a place where she could really display her abilities as an outfielder, a high school game not so much.I agree you can't vote on players bc their college offers but I do find it hard that probably the only girl in the region that got an offer from a D1 school couldn't make an all region team.Your right I only saw Ginn once as an 8th grader (and she had a great game) and not sure if I ever saw Gregg. But I know they both went to camps and tried to earn scholarships and for what ever reason Gregg got one (maybe two) and Ginn didn't.
-
That is an interesting observation and goes to show that you can't vote for players based on their college offers either. I think you said you never saw them play, but I'm going to guess that you won't find anyone that saw them play that will say Gregg was a better high school player. Was there any other D1 players on the All region team that year?Kinda funny how one has played D1 softball at two schools and the other didn't play at all. Yet the other girl is considered so much better.

Now that makes for a good debate, .430 hitters are pretty rare.I'd rather have a player who hits .250 -.300 and plays "stellar" defense, than a .400 - .430 hitter who is error prone. Defense rarely gets taken into consideration, IMO.
