King of the Bluegrass

Somebody started the rumor that the KING OF THE BLUEGRASS was moving to the new gym at Valley High School. That will NEVER happen. This is a Fairdale community event and I don't know how this got started but it has spread across the state.

The 2008 Canfield Devvelopment King of the Bluegrass Champions, Seattle Franklin (28-1), won the Class 3A State Championship. They defeated Columbia River Saturday night to win their sixth state title. University of Louisville signee, Peyton Siva and Vonchae' Richardson made the All-Tournament Team. Siva was also a member of the 2006 state championship team.Our congratulations go out to coach Jason Kerr and his Quakers...thanks for coming to Kentucky for the Canfield Development King of the Bluegrass Holiday Classic. And the Big East Champion Cardinals can't wait for Peyton. Next year tournament may be even better.... teams to be announced after the state tournament.

Elliott, Holmes and Scott were all invited. For some reason Billy Hicks won't come. The other two had scheduling problems.

I wish nothing but the best to coach Harmon. You don't have to win the state championship, a regional or even a district to be successful and Minor had a lot of grreat years. Thanks for all you have done for basketball in the state of Kentucky. Thanks for bringing your great teams and players to the KOB.

They were invited to the KOB. Tony Hopper is one of the coaches I respect the most. I did everything I could to get them in the tournament. He just couldn't work it out

Don't look for it any time soon. If any state makes a change to the game without the approval / sanctioning by the NFHS (National Federation of High School) which governs high school sports nationally that state WILL NOT get any vote or input for that sport. In Kentucky that body is the KHSAA... and they will not forfiet that right.

Starting next year (2008-09) NO PLAYER OR COACH OF THE YEAR will be elgibile to win unless the coach is a member of the KABC
