Les, I am really surprised that you are picking Corbin to make it to the finals. Do you think Corbin has developed into the team they were expected to be or has the other teams just improved that much as well? I really think Corbin has not actualized their potential. It could be a number of factors. The team chemistry still seems to be lacking. Clay County is a team on a mission. I am not sure how Cody Roberts played against Corbin in Manchester, but Corbin will have their hands full with Hobbs, Wilson, and Roberts. I really hope Corbin will win against Clay. Though, I don't know if Corbin has ever won the 13th after losing the district. Also, just curious to your reasoning for picking Jackson over South.

Yes, Crawford has not ever really been back to full strength or playing as well as last season. I am sure he'll have a great senior season. Well, I hope his junior season ends well too!

Sorry, I do not see any favorites in the 13th Region. I agree either South Laurel or Knox Central could possibly win this thing. I can easily see Corbin, Clay County, Jackson Co, or Cumberland winning as well. This region is so evenly matched. I don't think Corbin ever developed into the team many thought they would become. Anyone with thoughts on why?

I figured Clay County would beat Whitley tonight; however, I thought it would be a close game. Wrong. Clay County dominated defensively, as the final score indicates. In the first round of the 50th District Tournament, Whitley struggled to score points against the Lady Redhounds. Against Corbin, the Lady Colonels led 11-7 at the half and ended up winning 37-32. Not tonight. This one was just ugly. Whitley beat Clay by 12 points earlier this season—how things can change when tournament time comes. Now, Clay County will play Middlesboro in the semi-finals. Hopefully, this game will be closer and more interesting. :eek:

Well, I predicted Clay County would three-peat; however, now, I am thinking Middlesboro will get revenge and beat Clay Co by 10 or more.

Well, I would not be overly surprised if Lynn Camp beats Bell County -- or vice versa. However, I think both teams will struggle against their next opponent--South Laurel or Jackson County.

Just curious, are 14th regional officials calling the girl's tournament as well?

Clay County girls are being aggressive on defense and Whitley is struggling to score. It sounds like a physical game, which definitely favors the Lady Tigers.

CLAY CO 17 WHITLEY CO 7 ... Clay is running away in the third quarter. Middlesboro won earlier by 30.

LOL -- well, with the scoring being so low, it does not take much effort to keep the game updated. Maybe the pace of the game will pick up somewhat in the second half. I still do now know who won the Middlesboro/Barbourville game. I am assuming Middlesboro. If anyone knows, then let us know!

Bart, I would love to see Jackson County upset South Laurel. :-)

I do not know who won the first game. Clay Co is leading Whitley Co 6-1 2nd QTR - 3:50 left. Not much offense in this one.

I do not think Jackson Co will lose to South Laurel by 20. Jackson Co play South close. This could even be an upset--Jackson matches well with South inside and out.

HDE, I appreciate the post. I could not remember who won those years for the life of me. For some reason, I am thinking maybe Bell Co won in 1992. Can anyone confirm or deny this?

I will just listen to the radio for the games I cannot attend. What are some of the stations covering every game?

Okay, so maybe some of you can help me... I don't know who won the region the following years: 1992, 1993, 1994, & 1995. I am sure Harlan one a few of them. Clay Co-1989, 1990; Corbin-1991; Harlan-1996; Corbin-1997; Clay Co-1998, 1999; Corbin-2000; Clay Co-2001; Rockcastle Co-2002; Cumberland-2003; Rockcastle Co-2004; Corbin-2005; South Laurel-2006, 2007.

I will be wearing red and cheering for the Redhounds on Wednesday. Well, not literally cheering on the sidelines but you get the point. I have a lot of respect for Clay County's basketball tradition and how they've respected 13th Region basketball. I do believe there are many unanswered questions surrounding the Clay County basketball program presently; however, this should not take away from the kids who play their heart out from Clay. Many people wrote this team off early on in the season saying they were not talented and did not have any size. I think they've answered their critics. South Laurel penetrated the paint and either scored against Corbin or got to the foul line. Clay County, with Hobbs, will do much of the same thing. Also, Clay has some players that can hit the three ball. Corbin will have their hands full with Hobbs penetration and guarding the three. I am sure Coach P is preparing his team for this -- or I hope so. I did not attend the game in Manchester, did Corbin play man or zone primarily?
