Clay County 38 Whitley Co 18

Featured Replies

I figured Clay County would beat Whitley tonight; however, I thought it would be a close game. Wrong. Clay County dominated defensively, as the final score indicates. In the first round of the 50th District Tournament, Whitley struggled to score points against the Lady Redhounds. Against Corbin, the Lady Colonels led 11-7 at the half and ended up winning 37-32. Not tonight. This one was just ugly. Whitley beat Clay by 12 points earlier this season—how things can change when tournament time comes. Now, Clay County will play Middlesboro in the semi-finals. Hopefully, this game will be closer and more interesting.

This game was basically all defense and no offense, I just hope the Lady Tigers bring the same defense against Middlesboro but more offense. I did not really understand why the Lady Tigers tried to hold the ball the whole fourth quarter, but I guess thats why im not the coach. But great defensive game by the Lady Tigers, now you better be ready for the Lady Jackets!

Why score when you don't need to.

I guess I just like to see more points scored.

Well, if Clay County shot the ball more, then that would Whitley County more offensive possessions and opportunities to cut into the lead. I know the Lady Tigers played a great defensive game; however, Whitley County seemed afraid to shoot the ball from what I heard.
