I would love to tune in on good ole 1430, but it's a little out of range here in Natural Dam, AR. WYMC can't reach Paducah, and I'm sitting 2 miles from the Oklahoma state line. Oh well, sounds like the cards are better than what people were telling me.

Wow! This is my first post in probably three years, and my question to my fellow cardinal fans is WHERE DID THIS TEAM COME FROM!!!??? I have just moved to the state of Arkansas (surrounded by razorbacks...yikes) but before I left, I got to see the Marshall Co. game. I've got to be honest, I didn't think there was any possible way that mayfield would be going back to Louisville this year. I am amazed. Anyway, now I have to depend on the internet to find out anything..so keep it coming guys. This cardinal/cat fan located deep in the heart of the Ozarks really appreciates it. In 1998, I was at the game against Middlesboro, and honestly it looked like Middlesboro knew what play we were calling on just about every down. I remember that their defense spent as much time in our backfield as our qb...they were incredible! Mayfield is not overwhelmed very often, but that day I felt like we were just that... overwhelmed. We had no answer that day. As for 1995... tremendous game. I felt like our defense stepped up in the second half and began to shut down Beechwood's running game. Beechwood's running back (#33) was really good, but we stopped him in the second half. The passing game for Beechwood was awesome that day. We could not stop #44. It seemed like he had 20 catches that day. It was Mayfield's pass defense that almost got them beat that day. Beechwood drove down the field way too easily for their final score at the close of the game. I will say that in the second half, Mayfield began to put alot of pressure on the QB...and that had alot to do with Mayfield getting the victory. I have seen mayfield go to the passing game this year in non-passing situations (i.e. third down or long yardage ) more than ever before. Mayfield would almost never pass on first down (unless it was after a turnover), but they are this year. Mayfield is still a run oriented team...and with the line the cardinals have, that is not hard to understand why. As for best team ever, I would have to agree on the 1978 team, but I would have to throw the 1977 team in there also. You are correct, wildcatjack, it was the '77 team that played two national powers in Brentwood and East St. Louis. After the loss to Brentwood, Mayfield didn't lose again until a VERY contreversial loss to Paducah Tilghman about halfway through the '79 season. In between the '77 team won a state championship, and so did the '78 team. It was the 1978 team that was voted best team of all in the state of Kentucky for that year. I don't think this team is as good as those two. But I would like to see Jay Burgett go aginst young Marcus Moss...that would be fun to watch.
