NBA Playoff Predictions

Vegas is giving them the best chance. -
He must share a name with the guy who was the subject of an April Fool's Day hoax in Sports Illustrated a few years back. The Curious Case Of Sidd Finch - MLB - SI.com "Perhaps no story in Sports Illustrated's first six decades engendered the response of "The Curious Case Of Sidd Finch." The piece, by longtime SI contributor George Plimpton, told the tale of a young man who could throw a baseball 168 mph yet was as mysterious off the field as he was hard to believe on it. The story appeared in the April 1, 1985 issue, and neither the date nor the strangely worded subhead ("He's a pitcher, part yogi and part recluse. Impressively liberated from our opulent lifestyle, Sidd's deciding about yoga -- and his future in baseball"), the first letters of which spelled out "Happy April Fool's Day," clued readers into the fact that it was all a hoax. Here are some of the pictures that accompanied the original SI story, as well as some that were never published."

Fantasy Baseball Weekly Strategy Help
JokersWild24 replied to JokersWild24's topic in Major League Baseball (MLB)
Alex Rodriguez is actually available? Would it be a bad idea to take a flyer on him next week? I also have Ryan Zimmerman (3B & OF eligible but a health risk), Carlos Santana (3B, 1B, & DH eligible), Miguel Cabrera (1B, DH). I've been using Ben Zobrist as my utillity player, but obviously there are a few places I could plug him in. I'm worried about my power numbers, so I could see ARod and the short porch at Yankee Stadium possibly being valuable. -

No such luck. These guys are killers and usually when someone is suggested here, someone else has had them for awhile. -

Aaron Hernandez Murder Trial
JokersWild24 replied to Jumper_Dad's topic in National Football League (NFL)
Given the media coverage of this case, it wouldn't completely shock me if this ended up being a mistrial or something similar. It would only take one juror saying the wrong thing to a reporter or someone questioning them to do so if it were bad enough. -
Aaron Hernandez Murder Trial
JokersWild24 replied to Jumper_Dad's topic in National Football League (NFL)
To the first: True, but there was a TON of circumstantial evidence. 1.) New pair of Jordan footprints in a huge size (i.e., only could have been Hernandez's) by the body. The shoes he was wearing were new and thus the tread on the bottom was not worn and left a very distinct pattern. 2.) Joint with both Hernandez and Lloyd's DNA on it left beside the body. 3.) Text messages from Lloyd that says something to the effect of "you know who I'm with, NFL, just in case". 4.) Hernandez's phone putting him at the scene according to cell tower records. 5.) Hernandez's DNA being found on a shell casing and/or piece of gum that was found near the car rental agency's dumpster. 6.) Hernandez smashing his security system but the prosecution recovering a picture of him holding what appears to be a gun moments after the incident. 7.) Housekeeper/babysitter bit that was meant to turn Hernandez's finance against him. Despite it not being successful in that way, it probably didn't help him in the eyes of the jury. (see post #27 or read about it here). 8.) Hernandez's wife testifying that she threw away a box for him and couldn't remember where she put it. 9.) By closing arguments, Hernandez's legal team basically having to admit that the prosecution had put on such a strong case that they argued that he was there, but wasn't the person who pulled the trigger. It wasn't the easiest case with no confession, no murder weapon, no eye witnesses coming forward, but the amount of evidence they had otherwise was overwhelming. -

NBA Playoff Predictions

Chalk in the Eastern Conference's first and second rounds. Cleveland beats Atlanta in the ECF. Golden State, Houston, San Antonio, and Memphis advance in the West. San Antonio beats Houston and Golden State beats Memphis. Golden State beats San Antonio. Cleveland beats Golden State in the finals. -

San Antonio to the #6 seed despite winning after Memphis gets the #5 and Houston the #2 . I would honestly rather be in the #6 than the #5 though. #6 is a first round series with Los Angeles holding home court. #5 is a first round series with Portland holding home court and a second round matchup with Golden State looming if you advance. *Think I got this one right. -

Awesome. Glad to hear for him (i.e., if one is injured, it's not the one already hurt). I'm way off tonight on this thread. Unintentional 'sophism' at it's finest. -
If firefighters had to do their job like police officers

SA is a very large city, but here, they are separate. I did live relatively close to a fire station in an area with a pretty high population density, and I did see a fair amount of fire trucks. -

I must be starting to feel sick. :walk: I'm agreeing with you too much. -
The most credible list is the one with every kid who deserves to be on it there. No one is going to Google 'Apologies to James "Beetle" Bolden' a few years from now and it show up in results. Add it and go. Like @ColonelCrazy said, he didn't notice the list was only 10 names, and I wasn't counting either.

Pacers are down 10 with 3:31 left in Q3. They've had to use lots of energy (which they didn't have lots of coming into tonight anyway) just to get back though. Win and Indy is in. Lose and they are out. Memphis has only seeding, and I'm not really sure what's in play for them.
