Greenup County beat Russell lastnight of a score 34-0.
-
Will Cameron Crum (Greenup) be playing his senior year? He was a pretty good ball player but opted to concentrate on football and I wonder if he will be suiting up for his senior campaign.
What team did the Crum kid play on before he chose to focus on only football?
-
Did Jackson go on to play baseball at the next level?
-
Who all does East have returning?
-
I understand what you're saying, but he can't come in and take over unless someone lets him and I'm sure that Carter has worked all his life just as hard to be able to do the things he's accomplished. I hope this rumor isn't true....because it sounds like the classic "Me, Me, Me" syndrome. Reed is only hurting hisself by quiting. Greenup needs to be a team and play like a team to accomplish anything.
Zack Reed was not hurting himself by quitting, because as a few have stated, his future lies in baseball, not football. So he actually did better for himself by quitting, as he was not having fun, and can now focus on baseball. Carter had nothing to do with the reason he quit. I beleive everyone on the team is happy that Carter has returned to Greenup, and will continue to be as he helps them out alot. But to say quitting hurt himself, thats only false. He helped himself as well as the baseball team, as thats where he belongs. Goodluck Greenup tomorrow night.

East Carter and Boyd will be at the top of the 16th
Greenup County returns 10 seniors next season. They will still be tough, ecspecially on the mound with 4-5 guys throwing in the 80s. However, Boyd and East will also be good, but I dont think they will be the only two at the top.
-
Boyd's really hitting the ball right now.
-
If Boyd gets by Raceland Wednesday, I will pick them to beat Greenup.
Your not sure on them beating Raceland, but you think if they get past Raceland then they will beat Greenup?
I think Raceland knocks Boyd out now that they have Wilson ready to throw.
-
I wouldn't punch those tickets for Lexington just yet Doc. I think you're underestimating a Boyd team that just waltzed through their district including a shelling of Ashland. Plus Boyd did have Greenup down 5-1 going into the 7th, at Greenup without their #1 on the mound. Just sayin'...:idunno:
Greenup also had thier number 4 on the mound while Boyd had thier number 2.

I agree that Greenup has to be the favorite here but everyone acts like we don't have a chance. We are better than our record indicates. We have suffered alot of 1 run loss games but we have turned it around. If we play like we are capable of we will give Greenup a ballgame. I see this game being with in 2 runs either way for the winner. Good luck Rams.
If Greenup plays like they are capable of, they will win big. But it's postseason and both teams are gonna come to play.

Raceland-4
Who will be throwing for each team?

Throw the polls out the window because it's wide open this year!

Still wouldn't be suprised to see them in the top 10 in the morning, as they should not be as this past week has showed.
-
I heard Greenup vs. Russell and Lewis Co. vs. Raceland. Can someone confirm and give us dates and times.
If so, will Raceland throw Wilson vs. Lewis or take the chance and save him for the championship game?
-
Greenup County is probably still the favorite in the 16th, but there are several teams that are much improved. Raceland is a contender, Russell looks to be doing well, and I am sure Boyd County will be there as well.
I really look for the 16th to be competitive come playoff time.
Agreed.

I think if there ever was a year for Western Hills to compete in the 11th, this would be it. Not that the 11th is Necessarily weak, but it's not as powerful as it usually is (in my non-expert opinion).
They seem to be beating some of the best teams in the state, I dont think it would take the rest of the 11th to be weak for them to compete.
-
Who pitched for both teams?
-
Mexico I believe.
What postition does he play?
-
This was their best chance to advance. Don't they lose Adkins, Craft and Baker this year? Are there any other seniors?
They should still be pretty strong with a good sophmore class returning next year.
-
Raceland could be higher if the transfers and pitching come around. Other than that, I think it looks pretty good.
Yes, I would agree, I wasn't positive on the transfers and who was coming out for the team so I placed them according to how they would be without the other players. After transfers coming in I think they could be a possible number four team behind Boyd County.

Coupon, are you making friends with more Ram fans? I am glad to see it. By the way, Raceland indeed will need need pitching if they want to compete with the Big boys in the district and the Region. They should have 3 good pitchers with more to have to prove themselves. If they can do that, they may be competitive with most. I still don't think anyone in EKY has anything for Greenup.
I dont either, Greenup still has thier two best hitters from the past two seasons in Billy Logan and Eric Craft and return 7 of thier 9 startes from last season. However, losing Hieneman will hurt them pitching wise this year, they still return Dakota Greenslate and Kyle Martin who have helped make the trips to Applebees the last two seasons so I think they should be solid all the way around.

Not for sure about being in the dog house but it seems like the some of the starters are getting a lot of bench time here lately. Greenup has probably position wise the biggest team in the area. They still do not try to post up enough and let the big guys score.
Fraley seems to play alot of his bench players later on in the game and has the starters on the bench. It doesn't really make sense to me. With Greenups size they should be getting the ball in the post alot more than they are. They have an advantage over alot of teams with thier size but dont capitalize on it, which seems to me why they arent playing to their potential right now.

I was just wondering everyones thoughts on who the top players in the 16th region are? Here's my ten.
1.Ethan Faulkner
2.Jonthan Ferguson
3.Evan Faulkner
4.Timmy Knipp
5.Colt Barnhill
6.Aaron Rayburn
7.Tyler Jackson
8.Caleb Collins
9.Ryan Bonner
10.Tyler Boyles
And i think Chris Knipp is the most underrated player in the 16th region!!!
I would have to say Ferguson is the best player in the region. Also, I would move Caleb Collins up to Number 5 in front of Barnhill.

The last time they played it was closer than expected, but West Carter has seemed to improve as the season progress so I give them the advantage in this one.
West Carter-64
