  1. Dingle was 8-10 passing for 222 yards and four TD's. He threw all four TD's in the 2nd qtr. Savoy and Wright both scored rushing TD's and Jeremy Harness returned a punt for a TD. The Defense held Dunbar to -7 yards rushing. Go Dawgs! :ylsuper:

Impressive stats. JH is rolling and should have a deep run, like playing 15 games this season.

  2. Nelson really throws the ball a lot which is Warren's weak spot. Nelson is very strong against the run which is about all WC can do. Nelson has played a very strong Marion County team that was ranked 5th in class 4A. I give the edge to Nelson, but it won't be a blow out because all the Nelson staff really like Mike Rogers and they won't let it get too ugly.

I agree dkm29. Nelson has had a very good offensive game and a very good defensive game. They could put it all together in this one. One thing that has been much better for NC this year is turnovers. Maybe its because they are not running up the middle every play.

    Good luck to Coach Rogers.

  3. I'd be curious about anyone's thoughts who saw this game. Marion is Bardstown's opponent next week. Bardstown stayed with Nelson pretty well, so I'd like to see how they fare. I know Marion is very, very tough.

Marion's defense is big and strong. They kept NC in tough spots all game. Bardstown vs Marion shoud be a good one.

  4. NC shouldn't have any trouble scoring against the knights. This is not to say that Marion has a bad defense...I just think NC has things rolling offensively. They're much harder to defend now that they've spread things out a little bit. The hard part to predict is how NC's defense will play. Last week, they couldn't hold water. If this holds true again, I believe Marion has enough weapons to make it interesting. I'm gonna say Nelson by 7.:idunno:

Against Bardstown last week I think the Nelson Co defense was very good on most plays but they gave up a few big plays here and there. Those big plays with a punt and a kickoff returned for TDs kept it close. If NC can reduce those mistakes on special teams they will win 38-21.

  5. With all due respect, Bardstown has put up 74 points against two pretty decent Class 6A schools. Robinson, Wimsett and Owens are nice players, but unless Bethlehem keeps time of possession at 2 to 1, this game will not be close. I reserve the right to revise and extend my comments if the injuries to Harper, Mattingly and Willett are more severe than expected.[/QUOts

I guess we will see but I will be really suprised if Bardstown puts the kind of points up against Bethlehem as they did against Nelson Co.

Are you saying Bethllehem will do a better job of stopping Bardstown than Nelson did?

  6. Leading rusher Quentin Brooks returns, as does Alex Downs, who can break off big runs. Daniel Mudd played well in relief of Keene at QB last season, so they have that going for them. As Hearsay noted, the O-line will be a question.

On D, key returnees include Randall Curtsinger, Derek Brunhammer, Derek Cocanougher.

The Cardinals have 18 starters returning.

Quinten Brooks(Jr) and Alex Downs(Sr) will be the primary backs used. Andy Clowser(Sr) and Blake Martin(Jr) will get carries also. Daniel Mudd(Jr) did relieve Keene at QB last season but Tyler Marteniz(Sr) will be considered as well as playing some D-back. He was the back up and was the passing QB in passing situations, his Sophomore year.

The Defense has alot of returning players. On the line will be Randal Curtsinger(Sr), Cody Gant(Jr), and possibly Derek Cocanougher(Sr), Cocanougher left the team before the end of the season last year. Others that will see the field in ther rotation are Cody Livers(Sr), Jacob Snellen(JR) and Mathew Hillard(Jr), all of whom saw playing time last year.

At linebacker there is Cas Stanely(Sr), Daniel Osborne(Sr), Ryan Wimpsett(Jr), Demarcus Collins(Sr), and Jon Harrison(Jr). All are returning starters and saw significant playing time.

The secondary will include Chase Simpson(Sr), Derek Brunhammer(Sr), Josh Pride(Sr), and Tyler Marteniz(Sr). All of which are returning starters.

The O-line in my opinion will not be an issue. Yes, there were 4 seniors lost to graduation, but there are many other big guys that got in the rotation.

Dominic Green 6'4 300 lbs (Sr), Trey Franklin 6'3 285 lb.(Sr), Mikey Young 6'1 290 lb (Sr), Brent Brussell 6'1 270 lb (Jr), Ryan Downs 6'0 240 lb (Jr) will all get most of the rotational time. All of these players have the experience to be very good at the varsity level. All in all I think this team has more talent then the previous 5 seasons.
