Hazard had a player miss a wide open shot under the basket with about 4 seconds remaining in the game.
Sometimes when people say it is a wide open shot it really isn't. This time it was... You have to feel bad for Combs...

Here is a nice little video of Justice for those that haven't seen him play...

It is hard to argue against Josh Sewell for Mr. Basketball. His individual and team success have been impressive. Arguments can be made for other players, but I would think Sewell is the frontrunner...
-
Yeah, right. Sewell gets to Sweet 16 with Trinity, he's a lock for Mr. Basketball. You'll be rooting for Manual.
I think he deserves Mr. Basketball. I'm fully aware of the success Sewell and Trinity have had.

Here is an article on an All Star event Elisha has been invited to:

Who you rooting for if Manual plays Trinity first round????
It doens't really make a big difference to me. Any team that wins the 7th has a good chance at Rupp.
-
They played one bad quarter over the last 34 quarters, so I guess you are right, they aren't a hot team.
Sometimes one is all it takes...

Tough district!
It's not very tough, but East Ridge did only lose to Newport by 11 a couple of weeks ago, and Newport is 26-4. They are not good, but they aren't terrible either...
-
East Ridge? I try very hard to keep up with Ky hi school basketball, but have never heard of East Ridge.
They played in the Sweet 16 in the early 00's. Lost to Caverna in the 1st round...

Elisha Justice became Shelby Valley's all-time three point leader by surpassing Jeremy Akers in 3 pointers made. Another nice accomplishment for EJ...
-
Final from Lick Creek.
-
Justice has been the center of Valley's offense for 3 years
This is incorrect. The last two seasons Elisha has had much more offensive freedom, but the year prior the offense was run completely through Jacob Bryant. :thumb:

Is Pikeville rated number 2 in that region? Shelby Valley may have a cake walk to Rupp.
It's hard to say who is #2. Pikeville is one of the teams many consider to be second best. The region is SV's to lose...

Tonight vs. East Ridge Elisha Justice broke the state's career steals record. Elisha has had an outstanding career, and has always played on both ends of the floor. Congratulations to a EJ on a huge accomplishment...
-
Can't fault the kids but the coach certainly dropped the ball knowing what talent he had coming back by not scheduling some of the top teams in the state.
I too wish SV had more top KY teams on the schedule, but we'll find out if he dropped the ball come tournament time. He already has a state tournament trophy in the case from this year. I guess we will have to wait and see what SV will do if they make it to the big one...
-
Not an overly impressive performance by Trinity. As a top five team in the state I expected them to walk over Clay...
-
Corbin and Shelby Valley would be a good one!
I agree.

Starters must have played more than you are saying. Ramey was the only sub to score and he only scored 6. Starters had to score the rest. Your comment about the bench coming in when SV was up by +20 in the third doesn't add up.
I didn't say the bench came in during the 3rd quarter. SV was up >20 in the 3rd and coasted after that. The bench played the last part of the game and NL cut the lead. NL scored the final 8 of the game to make the score more respectable...
-
Unless SV played their subs most of the second half, this one doesn't look very good for SV after hearing what Trinity did last night at N Laurel.
SV led by >20 in the 3rd. The lead was over 20 when the bench came in for SV.
You get negative comments when you beat teams badly... you get negative comments when you don't beat teams bad enough.
-
Was SV still pressing in the 4th quarter? I saw them in the All A still pressing up 25 late in one of the games.
I don't think they pressed any in the 4th. I thought Booher did a nice job in the 2nd half of mixing in two or three seldom used bench players with starters.
-
Justice led the way with 19, Tyler Newsome had 18, and Hatfield had 17... Belfry had major problems with the press.
-
Also, their PG #13 was a really good player. Anyone have any information on where he will be attending college? Oh yeah! By the way, what's his name?:thumb:
#13 is Josh Whitaker. Some expect him to attend Pikeville College because his brother Ryan in on the basketball team there.

Elisha Justice vs. Josh Sewell for Mr. Basketball
in KY Boys Basketball (High School)

No, they defeated Betsy Layne tonight in the region final. Elisha Justice was named MVP of the 15th region tournament for the 3rd time...
