  1. Seriously...

As far as the Roughing the Passer call... I can see how you guys could view it as a bad call the way it happened. However, if Simeon Rice drove Carson's head into the ground like that, Bengal Nation would be all up in arms if it wasn't called. There is no way you can make me believe otherwise. As a Buc fan, the ref made the correct call.

Some of you have a problem with the reversal on the touchdown. The guys in the booth called for the reversal before the refs announced the play was under review. They saw how Clayton caught the ball, planted his feet, and extended the ball with two hands over the goal line (a football move) before the ground forced it to pop out. I like Pewter Pirates better than Bengal Tigers, so I like the reversal.

    The Official Ruling

Sorry guys, but I'm a happy man right at this moment.

  2. What's up with Tampa Bay? A few years back, they win the Super Bowl... The next year, they're horrible... Last year, they run through the league and make the playoffs... The next year, they're horrible.

    Bengals roll.

Inconsistent beat-up offensive line and an OLD defense that cannot stop the run. When was the last time the Bucs where ranked 20th in total defense? 7th against the pass, 30th against the run. 30th????

    As far as the offense....

Chucky blew it, IMO, by not playing the starters more than a few series in each of the pre-season games. I wondered about that all through the month of August. Chris Simms's timing was horrendous because he got so few reps in game situations in the pre-season. I think the Bucs started showing game one form in the second half of the Carolina game. The fact that Bruce Gradkowski got most of the pre-season reps may prove to be a blessing, given Chris will probably not be back this year.

It's the NFL. Anything can happen, but I'm not holding my breath for a win.

  3. Shaun King worked out today...

"I know a lot of guys in that locker room, and I'm in shape and ready to go," King said. "I believe I can help this team out. I just need a chance."

He got it Tuesday, along with former Steelers quarterback Tommy Maddox, former Jets QB Kliff Kingsbury and ex-49er Cody Pickett. All four worked out for the Bucs, who also are considering signing former Saints quarterback Todd Bouman and Stefan LeFors, a Louisville product.

QB Isn't The Only Problem Area

  4. I cant believe they would let him continue to play if they knew this. The spleen hemorages very easy.
They didn't know. The symptoms are the same as severe cramping, which they treated. They didn't know until after the game when he went to take a leak and got a bowl full of blood. I think every doctor in Tampa has been on the radio explaining this.
  5. Maybe Chris Redmon will get a look. Isn't Jay Gruden a QB coach there? Shane Boyd too.
Jay is an Offensive Assistant Coach. Paul Hackett is the Quarterbacks Coach.

Luke McCown is Jon's boy, but he's still 3 to 4 weeks away from being able to go. Whoever they bring in will probably get dropped as soon as Luke is ready, unless they can really impress Chucky.

  6. As if the Bucanneers didn't already have it bad enough. The amazing thing is the number of QB's they've had come through there in the past few years, and now they're left with a rookie out of Toledo as a starter, or the absolutely terrible Tim Rattay.

The only good news is they have their bye week next week, so that gives them 2 weeks to get either Gradkowski or Rattay ready. As a fan, I say go with Gradkowski and prepare him to take over the team for good if Chris does not come back. Tim Rattay is not the future of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

I'll bet Shawn King's locker is still empty. Or Steve Deberg's...
Last time I saw Shawn King, he could not fit into the locker room much less get to his locker.

    Such are the breaks....

  7. I've been working all night and just found out about this on a replay of the 11 o'clock news. I didn't get to see the first quarter, but he didn't seem to be getting hit that often in the remaining 3 quarters. The Bucs started running the ball well for a change. He did come down awkwardly on the touchdown dive he scored on. Maybe that did it, because he seemed fine prior to that. It was hot and humid today, so I can understand how everybody thought he was cramping up and needed fluids. I liked the kid already, but the fact that he came back out and played the 4th quarter with a ruptured spleen says something about him. I know he looked down right pasty when they showed him on the side line after the last Buc field goal.

  8. I had the opportunity to watch this kid a few times in High School and felt like he was as good of an all around QB as I've ever seen. Is this guy going to tear it up or what! I know Leak is in the Heisman race but I really think that he might take Florida to a whole new level if given the chance full time. What do you think? It is interesting because Leak is about to own ever Florida record there is. If I had to choose between the two for a National Championship game I swear I think I'd take Tebow because of the mismatches he brings to the table!
I disagree. Tim Tebow is going to be a great quarterback. Going to be. Against UCF, Tebow looked like the freshman he is when he ran the offense in the 4th quarter. Right now he's a great change up for a series, but he's not ready to take the reigns of that program, yet.

  10. Easier than that. They probably have their audio on the HOLD button at the station. Have them call you, put you on hold and you stream the HOLD button audio from your house onto the internet for our listening pleasure.

    :D

    I can hear it now.

"Folks, it's tied 21-21 with 2 seconds left in the game. The Colonels have the ball 4th and goal on the Lincoln half foot line and are going for it."

"Here's the snap .... handoff to Jefferi............."

  11. but i dont think that Elder was the best in Ohio that year, someone can correct me if im wrong.

Elder went on to win the Ohio Division 1 state title that season--their first.

As to this thread, even given the criteria of NFL interest, college interest, etc., I don't understand how Mississippi is the top of the list. But for those arguing for California... look at what happened to the NFL in Los Angeles.

I think that 2002 Trinity team could play with any team in the country.
  12. So, swamp rat, are you saying that Divine Intervention is to blame for privates' soccer success?
What is that supposed to mean?

On the girls side the private schools have won 3 of 14 state titles. Boys side 12 of 31.
Privates have won 39% of all boy soccer championships (12 of 31). Privates have won 22% of all football championships sanctioned by the state since 1959 (38 of 172) and that is with at least 3 chances to win one each year (4 chances per year since '75). If 22% is dominance then 39% is dominance as well. I stand by my post.
