  1. I also enjoyed the fans. Great place to play!

Back to my point, is that yes Heeger was in the game for a small part of the 4th. She picked up her thrid foul early and sat the bench. (3rd foul in the 4th quarter you don't need to sit) and by the time she came back in, there was 3.1 second left, and they were down 4 points. I wondered throughout the game where she was so thats why I know the seconds, etc. :sssh: Anyway, I think this little changed would have made Trimble extend their zone, to make it easier to score for Walton. But thats just me. Little mistakes like that cost us the game! Trimble fought back and has a great Coach. Super impressed with how she did things tonight in the game. Congrats Trimble.

Good point! Heeger has torched Trimble in the past. Best girls 3 point shooter in school history on the bench in the 4th quarter with Trimble playing a packed in zone. I bet Kerrie thought it was Christmas all over again with that gift.

  2. Are Walton fans ever satisfied? Why is everyone looking at the negatives? Just three weeks ago there was a thread about "what's wrong with Walton?" At that time they were losing, not playing to their potential, requests to move up the younger girls, coaching mistakes, etc. Now they are winning and people continue to question "what's wrong with Walton?" It appears that the coaching staff and the players have made the necessary adjustments to turn their season around. WV supporters should be excited about this change of direction and quit second guessing the coach about who's getting more playing time or her substitution patterns. This is varsity ball and the girls who produce during the game will be the one's playing. WV fans just need to sit back, relax and enjoy the game. Quit looking for problems, second-guessing and criticizing and enjoy the current success. The team is playing great at this point, don't dampen the excitement with negatives.:jump::p:ylsuper:

  3. I am not talking about Carroll and their play against WV. I am talking about in general this is how it goes. Our Coach does a great job scouting but it is what the players understand and react to that matters.

I do not think you understood my post. We had the same thing happen at the beginning of the year and it will change as the year goes on. WV will adjust to the new players on the team. They might not like it or be happy but they will work it out. As well as other teams will learn to play them differently in order to manage the new talent.

I understand. Congrats on your 1000th post!!!

  4. As soon as other teams see them on the WV team and adjust their defense the easy looks and drives will not happen for them. They have had the element of surprise in the last several weeks because there was no tape.

Carroll Plays an 8th grader regularly and she is a great 3 point shooter, but after she was identified as such she is not left open to take those shots as much. That is just the way it goes.

When a team has geared up for Heeger/Sargeant and has that mind set and then they are not in the game they tend to slack off the replacement.

They have talent and can handle the ball, but as teams adjust it will not be as easy for them to come in and look like Saviors and they will have to learn to run the plays and work within the team.

I feel for the older girls but it is a fact that the Coach needs to do what she has to to get the win. If this works right now then that will be her strategy. It may completely change in a few weeks.

I hear what your saying but the Carroll coach was at the last 2 Walton games and had plenty of time to make adjustments. At this point Walton has a lot of talent on the floor and on the bench. So everyone should just sit back and enjoy it. Instead of some trying to grab the credit/ or others complaining. Just realize that without some players from every class 8th to Senior they would not be as good as they are and would not go as far as they can without each other. They have what everyone was asking for ( a winning team) so it's time to :sssh: and play.

  5. Sometimes players have off nights or just don't show-up. But the sign of a good team is others stepping-up in their place. That's what Krahl did.

I agree. That's the sign of a great team. Walton is deep and will be a tough match up for a lot of teams the rest of the year. Everybody should keep their heads up and be the one ready to step up in the next game. If they keep a team mindset they will go far!!!

  6. I guess the playing time of the young girls will go down now. I was expecting to see one of the young post players begin to see some playing time. Not sure what her name is, but she plays MS and Frosh.

I think the younger girls will continue to see playing time. They add a lot to the team. Good ball handling coupled with quickness. The mix of experienced players along with the quickness and skill of the younger players is making for a very good and deep team. If this team catches on to what they have and continue to realize they are a (team) their potential in the All A and beyond is unlimited.

  7. Sk in a blow-out for sure, let's get serious Sk should blow-out everyone in their district. I can't understand as far as the Regions go how you can have 3 Kenton County high schools that probably aren't 5 miles apart play in 3 different Regions. Someone with authority needs to rectify this problem. I know the 9th region is tough but so what all three high schools should still be in the 9th region.

    I agree:thumb:

  8. So do you think the coach had this in mind all along? Was it her plan to see if the upper-classmen could produce before bringing up the younger girls? If this was her plan, then she is smarter than most people gave her credit for in the previous thread. I think this was her plan. Since they weren't winning and now they are, no one should question her about using the younger girls. It's been a positive change. :thumb:

    I agree:thumb:

  9. Yeah. I pretty much understand that basketball isn't a popularity contest! But this situation could get sticky. One Senior just quit, maybe a few more will? I sure hope not, I'm just saying that communication is KEY for this team right now. The coach needs to tell those girls their 'roll' in the games instead of just taking their playing time from them. She needs to talk and make sure the older girls understand where the fit in the program instead of them feeling like the left out.

I also agree with Footloose (with his/her statement above). It's High School basketball. I know us as viewers/parents or whatever, want to win, and winning is great, but sometimes we forget about how that Senior feels when she never got into a game, or when you see a great team taken over by a different coach, and watch players quit and not want to play for her. These girls are missing one BIG thing, and that is to have FUN. The girls (Seniors/Coach) need to see that they have 2 more months of basketball, that's it, these girls coming up, have 4/5 years left. I'm not saying I don't want them to play because they do help out a lot! Don't get me wrong, but you need to see the whole picture, the older girls can win. We all know that, I guess what I am trying to say is don't give up seniors. You all are a great group of girls; use this to motivate you to get your playing time back!

Anyone agree?? Or is Weakside right? Just seeing others views.

I think the communicating has allready been done. If your not going to play hard your not going to play. A individual player is entitled to nothing. What's best for the team is what has to be done. And if a player doesn't get that then they are not a team player in the first place. What's needs to happen is everybody get on-board and play as hard as possible in the minutes they get . That will make the team deeper and a much tougher out in any game. If playing a mix of girls works best for the team to win then everybody benefits in the long run. In this situation if a player wants more time (in order to contribute to the TEAM) they have to state their case on the floor.
