  1. Coach Hart is a very good football coach but they did go 2-8 last season. I believe his heart is in college coaching and probably should go back if the opportunity happens. Ashland has way too many good athletes to go 2-8 any year. Plus lose to Raceland two years in a row and Pikeville this season. Those are two great programs but single A and Ashland shouldn't lose to those schools anytime.

  2. I am not a Devil fan, but it is a shame when these two fine kids find the best thing for them is to quit. I believe that has to fall back on the coaching staff. I happened to be at a game earlier when there was a banner that read " All I want for Christmas is a new coach" but to hear the Devil backers they have the best staff in the 16th

Like anything else it boils down to players. Coaching is and makes a difference no question but you must have the Jimmy's and the Joe's. I am sure the Russell boys are trying hard but that is the worse team I have seen Russell have in any sports period in history. Good luck to all.

  3. Yet just another eye-opener as to why public schools get so irritated. When given the chance....well...I might as well not go there.

    Unreal.

I agree and look at what LCA gets in the football district. Raceland, Fairview, Paris, and Nicholas all of which have limited funds and can't go out and get numerous players every year. It's a bunch a crap public schools got to put up with this stuff every year. No matter what realignment the KHSAA does it won't matter because you are always going to have most if not all private schools in the title games (Football just about every single year). I know this is a discussion about LCA but they are obvious cheaters and shouldn't be allowed to compete for the post season next year, there is a major problem with our high school athletic system if you can do these things and not get banned from somekind of on field action. :fight:

  4. Greenup is a mess it's a miracle what the football team did at the end of last season if not Coach Sammons probably would not be there. They are all great people and coaches but the administration at Greenup is awful. No support which you always need to have a successful program. It seems everytime you turn around you hear something bad about Greenup which means you won't find any good coaches.

  5. District 1-5

Lexington Christian (11-4, 6-0) is the favorite to repeat as district champions, after their first State Championship appearance. LCA returns most of their starters, but do lose several linemen and two receivers on offense, and several defensive starters. LCA does return their strong RB in Hayden, their starting QB, and several very capable receivers.

Raceland (7-5, 4-2) will give LCA strong competition for the district title. Raceland will return virtually everyone, losing only one lineman and one receiver on offense, and one lineman, one linebacker, and one corner back on defense. Raceland returns RB Denton who rushed for over a thousand yards with RB Carver who rushed for six hundred yards in a split back formation, and QB Boyles who passed for a thousand yards.

Fairview (6-5, 2-3) was hit hard with graduation. Fairview will also be under a new head coach, in Nathan McPeek. I look for Fairview to have some trouble this season, they may very well be the number three team in the district, but will more then likely be a distant third.

Nicholas County (5-6, 1-4) will be competing for the number three spot with Fairview, and may get it. Nicholas had some bright spots last season and played close to Raceland but was just a little down. Nicholas could be the surprise of this district.

Paris (2-8, 0-4) was thought by many to compete last year, but did have some trouble putting complete games together. Not totally surprising, most teams do have some trouble during the first year with a new head coach. I look for Paris to be improved this season and could find themselves back in the playoffs this year.

I agree with you RAM on those picks it's LCA/RACELAND battling it out to probably see who goes to the VILLE. I like Fairview/Nicholas/Paris out of that district to battle it out though and give LCA/Raceland good games. I know Fairview lost some very good football players and will more than likely rebuild but you never know Coach McPeek will have them ready and prepared I am sure. Good luck to all teams next season.

  6. I believe he is 26 or 27 years old and was the offensive coordinator/offensive line coach at Boyd Co. He played at Russell under Coach McGlone I think and obviously many people in the Tri-State area know he played for Marshall and had a great career. He is a very good guy from what I have seen/read. I am sure the community will embrace him and I wish nothing but success to the coaches and students at Fairview.

  7. Regardless what has happened I wish the Fairview Eagles nothing but success. I have heard nothing but good things about Nathan McPeek and he obviously knows the game. I am not going to get into a big argument about the whole thing but that's old news about Coach Tackett so we don't need to discuss that. He is at Ashland happy and life goes on. Good luck to Coach Nathan McPeek and the rest of the players at Fairview. Raceland and LCA will both be loaded next season but I am sure the Eagles will compete hard. Happy New Year everybody.

  8. Worse Russell team I have seen ever in any sport. I know Coach Dodd can coach but my goodness they are awful. When you have to play a 7th grader you are in trouble especially when he physically is just not ready in my opinion. Good luck to the Devils and surely to goodness things will improve.

  9. Ok...Keep in mind, Euton is only 15.

I agree but I have seen him play a few times and he is going to have to get a lot better to be able to play at UK. Athletically he is way behind the level of an SEC caliber player in my opinion. I think Jackson has the potential to be the much better player of the two, but that is just my opinion. Several people share the same because I heard it from other people as well including some Rose Hill fans. Good luck the rest of the way but Elliott is way too good for anybody.
