  1. Simmons made some insane passes while he was in. Jaw-dropping! McConnell looked good too.
  2. Agreed! Although Russellville rarely has a problem putting up points. On the other side of the ball, stopping the pass is just as important. After Mayfield pounds you a little, they execute you with multiple receivers.
  3. I haven't talked to a single Golden State fan that's irritated by the acquisition of Durant. Haters gonna hate!
  4. That was me! Are you telling me they have no talent and can't win one or two games each year?
  5. BGHS will host it's annual youth football camp July 18-20. The cost is $30 and is available for anyone entering 2nd-8th grade. The camp will be held at the BGHS practice facility behind Donaldson Stadium. For more information, call 270-495-1169 or email kevin.wallace@bgreen.kyschools.us
  6. Not sure on that one, you might be right. I'm seeing a strong-out-of-the-gate Butler team and a Russellville team that finishes strong--just a hunch. Early season matchup, so that's the reasoning for my upset pick. That and how the game ended last year. Not sure Butler lost that game, they just ran out of time.
  7. This is a year where many think BC can make a run (farther than last year), assuming Rex stays healthy. Should the team stumble with a healthy Rex, I think it falls on coaching staff. No pressure! All that being said, I'm predicting Butler County beats Russellville this year. I'm not predicting a Mayfield win, however.
  8. Keep the most recent Athletic Director; smart guy. He's bound to hire someone with the right combination of know-how and passion.
  9. 1. Supporters should pray (a lot). 2. Coaches should quit trying to control youth football (k-6). Leave it to the guys/gals that have the energy and experience. You have your hands full--33-game losing streak! High/middle school coaches who haven't even taught the offensive line any blocking calls shouldn't be worried about what plays a 3/4 grade team is running, IMO. Also the coaches could stand to be more supportive of "average" players. It's easy to support MVPs and All-Stars but you don't have enough of those to win in football, so stop being a tough guy drill sergeant and start being thankful some parents let their kids play at a school with a 33-game-losing-streak. 3. School system administrators should quit hiring a new coach every year or two. It does no good to hire a new coach when you keep the same assistants, etc. around the coach. Fire them all! Tell the old boosters you don't need their help anymore too. "Changing the face of a failing restaurant does nothing, you got to get in there and clean out them grease traps."
  10. I've been following this hire and a few others in the Bowling Green area. Glad to see a few people raising some eyebrows. A couple of points: Todd County is blessed with a lot of talent. A spread out rural county but plenty of talent to compete with most 2A's in the state. IMO, should make a playoff run every year. A friend of mine inquired about the job and told me 2 weeks ago that they would be hiring someone internal--he could tell by the response he received from his inquiry. He nailed it, go figure. From what I read in the Todd County paper, neither the AD or the new coach have much big boy football experience. One of the new AD's qualifications was she kept the baseball book for Muhlenberg--or so the paper says. This is great news for 4A Logan County! Riding a 33-game-losing-streak and they have 2A Todd on this year's schedule. I'd like to wish the new coach the best. Enjoy your time in charge. My best advice: hire assistant coaches (not dads) who know as much or more about coaching football than you do.
