  1. Rumor has it that the former coach may be out? Is there any truth to this? Does anyone have any leads on who may take the job?
  2. Daniel McWhorter of Calvary Christian has to be considered. He finished the regular season throwing 37 innings with 54 k's to only 12 walks. He went 5-2 with a 2.27 and a 1.22 WHIP. 4 of his 5 wins were complete games and he also has 3 shutouts. He hit .587 on the year with a .662 OBP and a .778 slugging percentage. He also led the team with 36 RBI and 31 stolen bases. He drove in all of those runs for a team that only won 8 games, so it's not like they were a powerhouse either. In 77 plate appearances the kid struck out 5 times. He can really get it done!
  3. Daniel McWhorter- Calvary Christian The freshmen has made 9 appearances pitching. He owns a 2.22 ERA, and 50 strikeouts in 34.2 innings of work. He has a whip of 1.10, and has given up 24 hits while walking 9. He owns a 5-2 record with 4 of his wins being complete games, and 3 being shutouts. He has hit pretty well too. He owns a .545 average. His slugging percentage is .628. He has 23 RBI and 22 stolen bases on the year as well. That is flat getting it done as a freshmen. Will Fannin- Calvary Christian Will is only an 8th grader and is getting it done in centerfield, and leading off for the Cougars. Fannin is currently hitting .417 with a .533 OBP. He has pitched in spot duty for the Cougars and is 1-0 with a 3.50 ERA. Calvary's entire team is loaded with talent freshmen and younger. It will be very neat to see what they do in the future.
  4. An ugly game at Calvary tonight that ended with Calvary finding a way to win. There had to have been at least 10 errors between the two teams. Calvary did a great job hitting behind runners, and bunting all night long. Freshmen Eli Duty got his first career varsity win for the Cougars.
  5. Unbelievably dumb move. If it's an at bat that decides a ball game.... maybe. Not in this game or situation. All you have done is started over on the days that you can make a DL move retroactive. The only way it possibly happens is to give him a look at some live pitches if he is going to be back in the next day or two.... He hasn't been back yet, so...
  6. I had the chance to see Latin in a varsity contest. Although they were ultimately run rules their kids played well. The pitchers threw strikes, and the hitters were swinging at the plate. They will have a decent team in a few years as they were extremely young.
  7. The Calvary baseball team, who had not won a varsity game since the spring of 2012 rattled off 2 victories this week. On Tuesday, the Cougars beat Silver Grove 12-1 for their first victory. A real nice win for them considering an 10 run loss to Silver Grove 3 weeks prior. The Cougars then beat Louisville Western 15-0 in a one hit performance by a freshmen pitcher. The Cougars seem to be set for the future when it comes to regular starters. The team regularly starts 5 freshmen, and then they top that off with an 8th grader in center and a 7th grader at second. The top two pitchers are also freshmen. Things certainly seem to be looking up in the land of the Cougars!
  8. It's hard to believe after a 10 run loss, but things seem to be looking very positive for Calvary going forward. The 9 run first was an anomaly in an otherwise good baseball game. After that the Cougars made a pitching change and settled down. They played a 3-2 ball game the rest of the way. It was neat to see the players improve even during the game from inning to inning. This will be an interesting team to watch as the season goes on!
  9. Andrew Moran of Calvary will be a senior at Asbury. Nick Landers of Calvary will be a freshmen at Ohio Christian.
  10. There's a novel idea. Why did more guys put up better offensive numbers back in the day? They could hit....
  11. Calvary's schedule will appear with a few more games than the 10 that they played last year. Things seem to be pointing toward a very basic and fundamental approach from the new coaching staff.
  12. Whenever this season closes, it will be time for Grasham to go. He might as well start packing now.
  13. Randy Borchers at Cooper. The man has had an impressive defense each year at Cooper, and that's without a considerable amount of boys. His teams are always defensive minded, and I'm not sure if he is listed as the teams DC since he is HC but I assure you defensive game plans are ultimately his. The man is a brilliant football mind.
  14. The Ducks will outscore the Noles and advance to the title game. The Noles have lucked out one too many times this year.
