  1. Talk about a great kid with a great, unassuming attitude...Jake's the guy! I'm pretty sure he's a Junior. I can't wait to see him play next year. Is he playing for the Colonels again this summer? His game has improved dramatically since last year, and he wasn't bad then! It seems as if his confidence has improved greatly and it's paying off offensively as well as defensively. I don't think POY this year, but next year it'll be a different story.
  2. BESR bats are NOT illegal! If they are BESR certified, AND stamped accordingly, they ARE legal. It's in the rulebook...the NFHS rulebook.
  3. I've watched Travis "Choppy Jr." (sorry Chop, you're dad is still the original) play for many years...as a matter of fact, I've even watched him playing a little tee-ball. He's always played a year above his age. This has been the only season of his career that he has been an "older" kid on a team. He played for the District 22 KNOTHOLE, American Legion team from Newport that would routinely enter "select" tournaments and kick-butt, not to mention winning the Greater Cincinnati Knothole Tourney numerous times. The tropheys that this team collected was astronomical! It was a great group of ballplayers. And yes, any college would be lucky to have this fine young man fall in their lap.
  4. Oh YES they would! Like Villa, city employees are part of a union that would demand the "right" to work on the field. Gotta love it!
  5. Is the Ludlow job up for grabs?
  6. It's not a good idea to raise the leg and hold it up until you decide if the runner is going because stopping the motion is a balk as well.
  7. Doesn't Knothole follow the MLB rulebook? There is no delayed dead ball in MLB, is there?
  8. I didn't realize high school and major league baseball are one in the same. I apologize. I should have also realized that text book isn't the same as rule book. My mistake.
  9. From what I hear it's going to be Dennis Ollier. He'd be a good choice. He knows what to expect from the kids there. He's been involved in the game for years and I think he's even had some experience down at Bracken Co.
  10. I'm not sure what game you were watching or what rulebook you're referencing but... the throw was definintely off target neccesitating the SS to pull his foot. I was sitting on the 1st base side of the field and it was obvious. BTW, I've never seen a reference to "shadowing" either, what is this, could you explain where a runner is out if the bag isn't touched?
  11. Clyde, wouldn't that be an error on the 2nd baseman since the throw was wide?
  12. I think they were making sure that the right guy was going to take the appeal.
  13. I heard so that the lights wouldn't have to be turned on.
  14. I can't find him anywhere... I think he's in hiding!
