  1. After having an amazing 14U season last year that group is leaping up to 16U leaving a void at 15 obviously. That team will consist of the following to my knowledge. The Ville 16U Darryl Hicks - SCHS Omar Prewitt - Montgomery David Levitch - North Oldham Devon Rowan - North Oldham James Quick - Trinity Desmond Dorsey - J'Town Several more, but don't know of the top of my head. Heard that Swopshire's brother from St. Louis will also be joining them at times. Should be a great team to watch.
  2. Justice will be a spot only guy at even Louisville which doesn't have the talent that Kentucky does. And just for the record I don't see the current Mr. Basketball on UK's roster staying there next year. Hood has a better chance of playing for Georgetown KY then being on UK's bench next year.
  3. Just as a casual bystander I can see much outrage with this post and none against him. Maybe Shepherd should do just that, be out. You can always move your son (probably have one in the program) to another area. He would be immediately eligible and you will obviously be rid of the person you dislike. For that matter I would love to have Code go to work with you for 4 months and then post stuff about that. Might be interesting!! "I can't believe that Shepherd just faxed that versus emailing it. This is a joke, wasted time, wasted money, can we get a replacement here?" LOL
  4. Casey Jackson, South's leading scorer was in foul trouble the entire game and was limited to probably 15 minutes as well. The game was not called that one sided. Robert, I was the first to say that it shouldn't have been called, but Gallatin likely had 20+ turnovers, very uncharacteristic and some of them were the "bad" ones that lead to layups against the 1-3-1. Was the call good? No, but GC should have taken care of business when they had the ball at the end with the game tied. When you don't do that, when you turn it over that many times, when you blow a 17 point lead you can never simply blame officials. GC lost the game for so many more reasons than a call. I think OT would've been the right thing for both teams, but it is what it is.
  5. The fact is that this game was too good to be decided by that. You never take the game out of the players hands. In this situation I think the true deciding factor is the shooter. Jackson's 3 was a fade away 23 footer that there is no way you make that call. I wouldn't use the word screwed, but definitely a call that most wouldn't want to see decide a game. One thing that you can say to Gallatin fans is that IF you have the ball with :30 left in a tie game you simply cannot turn it over the way they did giving a 2 on 1. You likely lost the game on that possession. One can always blame refs, but GC shouldn't have been in that situation that it would come down to that call. They had to have a shot when the game was tied and likely a last shot that made the game OT or a win. Never complain if you don't take care of that ball in that situation and moreover when you are up 26-9 you cannot let it be 2 or 3 at the half. I personally thought the game was lost then. Great ball game though.
  6. I agree, but will bet anyway, blizzards are awesome and little known fact if you go when it is snowing you get buy 1 get one free!!! If I lose I will only buy when it is snowing! They must be getting hammered on buy 1 get 1's this year!
  7. Great point, I was really simply saying that it should be a class system or none. Just one opinion, everyone doesn't have to be upset. LOL
  8. As an aside to this, I don't know much about it, but don't think there is an official state championship via KHSAA for power lifting so why would they take them down? There is a basketball state championship via the KHSAA so why should there be another that isn't recognized. Truly two different issues. Maybe I am not as informed as I need to be. Is there an all A in baseball? Maybe I am not looking at this right. Hope to hear from someone.
  9. OK, we are going a different direction that has nothing to do with this. I simply think there should be a class system or no class system. Everyone can have their opinion.
  10. I know they don't care, but to say it isn't affiliated is somewhat true and somewhat not. Are the teams that participate KHSAA teams? Yes Are the coaches KHSAA coaches? Yes If a kid gets hurt, does it go on the KHSAA insurance? Yes Does the KHSAA recognize the title? No Do other teams in those regions have to schedule around that tournament and adjust schedules as necessary? Yes If it looks like a dog and smells like a dog, it's probably a dog. The issue isn't what the KHSAA does or doesn't do, it is about a mythical title. These schools put banners up along with the standard regional or district titles so whether the KHSAA does or does not recognize it isn't the issue. If there is a need for an all A there should be a class system. Not sure why the powers that be won't look at a class system, but it is what it is. Personally I like the one class, but if the all A is to continue we should investigate making it legitimate. Do you think University Heights looks at the all A tltles they have won different than the regular title? Of course, but they are still very proud of the all A titles. I am not a believer in phantom titles which this is. Not demeaning the tournament, the teams or anything about it, but it should be a KHSAA thing or be eliminated.
  11. Does anyone care about the schools that are on the edge of A, they are AA schools and never get anything like this? I am more in favor of eliminating the all A completely. If we are going to have class championships lets do it. Why would football, cross country and many other sports have classes? You can't be kind of pregnant, you are either a class system or you are not. I walk into many small schools that have All A regional championship banners and pictures and just laugh. Why A only? Don't complain about something that is completely out of the bounds of what our sport allows. All the AA schools that have middle level enrollment are completely out to dry. Most of the basketball state titles go to the larger schools and there is a mythical all A state championship. Yea, we're number 88! How is this even a debate? Eliminate it or go to a class system.
  12. What was that saying about chickens and hatching?? NEVER count anything until it is won. Can't tell you how many times Scott was the huge favorite in the 8th and went home from New Castle.
  13. Here is the bottom line. I have spoken with a few people on each side of it. Crestwoodknowitall is upset because he is from Crestwood (South Oldham). The facts are these. The family that he is living with is the AAU head coach and his best friend from the AAU team who was home schooled until this year and is in the North Oldham district. The coach is not on staff at North, but did go to Georgetown team camp to help due to the number of teams they took and he helped coach a team that contained his middle school age son (7th grade) only. When I asked how many kids transferred in the answer was 2, Hicks and a kid that went to Eastern, but never played basketball. When asked how many kids have ever come in to North the answer was 3 in 7 years (including these 2) so whether they are high profile or not it is clearly not a pattern. The person I asked also went on to say that Mr. Crestwoodknowitall's team from last year had 2 kids from North Oldham Middle and HS's programs in the past and that they got some "transfers" in their loaded freshman class that were from Oldham County's district. Perfectly legal with open enrollment, but obviously not the same issue. Shoe is never the same on the other foot. I speak with many people at South often and am close to the issue on that side and they are upset, but only due to the magnitude of the kid. ColonelMike hit it on the head when it is either right or wrong. Check the records in Jefferson County on "limited guardianship transfers" and kids that move in with others, it happens all the time. I was even told by someone close to the North program that an 8th region coach said, "Why wouldn't he want to play for you in the style and manner you play. It's fun" Kudos to Log Mountain Boy for stating that. All i know is I won't miss the Shelby/North or South/North games this year, do they have reserved seats??!!
  14. Not sure how anyone can say this list isn't even close. The reality is that if this list and these guys are even remotely close they are all top 30 guys and this early it truly doesn't matter. I am not sure how you can doubt all of these guys. The Hicks kid was the 3rd leading scorer and a top 20 all star at the Fab Frosh All American camp where they invited what was reported as the top 150 players in the country in 2013 and even if that is off by 50% that would still make him top 40 in the country easily making him top 5 in the state. Quick and Hatcher are NASTY and it is hard to imagine many guys better than those 3. The comment that it can't be close is wrong. There are some guys that you may be able to add and some you may be able to delete, but I can tell most that I believe at least half these guys belong in the top 10.
