As an aside, I'm with Jim --- Rock is Rock with both the Black Keys and the White Stripes being awesome rock bands.

 

I agree both are. Maybe I sold the Keys shorter than I should have but to me they're still not on that level yet, they have the potential to carry the torch for rock but I am going to wait and see what happens. To me they have almost become a "fad band" or something that has blew up and got way popular now as compared to when they first came out. I have kept up with the Keys for a while and their growth in fanbase in recognition has just been unbelievable. I guess since there are so many bandwagon fans of the Keys it has caused me to feel a different way towards them, kind of like Mumford and Sons. Guys who have been around for a while but just now achieving a certain level of success, its almost like they have came out of no where and blew up although they have actually both been around for a long time.

Interesting you would mention that -- one of my old-school best friends was telling me the other day that he is chaperoning his daughter (HS junior) and her boyfriend along with boyfriend's momma for a Black Keys concert somewhere -- either March 2 in Cincy or March 16 in Indy -- and he was asking me about them. I told him he might enjoy them more than his daughter (he loves blues and blues rock like I do), but it did give me pause in terms of wondering about why in the Sam Hill a junior in HS would be into something I was. That almost never happens. I've heard their music for a long time and been a fan, but never bought an album until a couple weeks ago, however, I am hooked.

Yeah great band, don't get me wrong. I have liked their stuff for a while but it's just the overkill of love/attention and bandwagon fans that have caused me to not be into them as much.
