The slang term “one trick pony” is used to refer to something which can only be used for one very specific application. The term is also used to describe people; for example, a chef who can only produce one really good dish might be known as a one trick pony. It suggests a lack of flexibility and an inability to work outside very specific parameters. Most people try to avoid creating or becoming a one trick pony for this very reason. In sports it often means a team can do only one thing or only has one star player.

"Thats definintely the theme for tonight," smiled a happy Coach Josh Feldmann. "We are playing as a team now and we are no longer a one trick pony. I'm proud of them they are really coming together as a team. It is a big win for us tonight." Last year Campbell Co. eeked out a 44-39 win in the Crosstown Shootout although Brossart has won 10 of the last 14.

The Lady 'Stangs of Bishop Brossart are absolutely not a one trick pony as the young team is growing into a superb team. They have proved that by rolling off some very impressive wins including a total dismantling of the Lady Camels of Campbell Co. at the annual Crosstown Shootout Saturday night 54-43. The game played at the Campbell Co. Middle School before an impressive crowd showcased a balanced group effort.

Brossart improved to 12-3 on the season with Campbell County falling to 9-6 and consider this....35 of Brossart's points came from Sophomores while all of the Lady Camel points came from juniors and seniors. The future bodes well for a team that continues to play better together as a team and improve with every game.

The Lady 'Stangs started a bit slowly but soon opened up a 13-9 first quarter advantage and extended that to 28-17 at the intermission. The Lady Camels took advantage of Sarah Futscher and Abby Stadtmiller each having three fouls to creep back into it a bit and get within six but Brossart would again open up a big lead the largest coming at 49-32 (17 points) with 3:19 remaining.

Rachel Hartig had perhaps her finest game of the year knocking in 13 points hitting 4 of 7 from the floor including a perfect 2 for 2 on three point attempts and 3 of 4 from the line. Her evening also included 4 rebounds, five steals and an assist.

Sarah Futscher also had another stellar game scoring 12 and pulling down 10 boards despite picking up her third foul early. The rest of the balanced attack saw Madison Eisenmann and Maria Greis with 6 each, Abby Stadtmiller and Kayla Young with 5 each while the rest of the scoring was Cori Ziegler (3), Alex Roberts (2) and Megan Dierig with 2.

Brossart dominated the statistic sheet winning every category except Dead ball Rebounds and Pts off turnovers. They outrebounded Campbell 42-34, outshot them both from the field 35.6% to 31.4% and from the line 62.9% to 36%. The Lady 'Stangs doubled up on free throw pts 18 to 9, held a huge edge in three point efficiency plus 28.4 to minus 5.2 and a 13-9 edge in points off the bench.

It was a nice prelim for the Touchstone Energy 10th Region All "A" Classic starting this Wednesday in Carlisle, Ky. at Nicholas County's new Gym.

The Lady 'Stang TEAM will be ready to roll and continue to get better.

The BBHS freshmen rolled over Campbell Co. 44-33 while the JV fell to the Lady Camels.

Congrats to the Mustangs.

This came down to FREE THROWS, FREE THROWS & FREE THROWS and turnovers for CCHS. I can't find the stats online but CCHS had to miss at least 12 - 15 FTs and countless turnovers.

Brossart is a team that could win the 10th Region this year. Very balanced team!

The two teams had 45 turnovers (22 for one and 23 for the other) Campbell missed 16 from the line, however Brossart missed 12 also so there were many other factors. The bottom line is Brossart won every category but two out of around 14.
