#17 Marshall County remains unbeaten, but the schedule has been light. Next in action next week at Montgomery County vs. Harrison County.

Marshall had two good wins this week over Madisonville and Warren Central, both by comfortable double-digit margins.

 

The schedule isn't quite as light as some would think. The two out-of-state teams Marshall has beaten are decent ballclubs, but that's a common assumption among people in the central part of the state.

 

Example: I'm at the state tournament in 2002 and someone from Lexington I was talking to dismissed Paducah Tilghman because "they don't play anybody." Little did he know that they beat an Illinois team that was the Class A state runner-up and lost to Chicago Westinghouse, which won the big-school state title that weekend.

 

I told him "Just because you don't know those teams doesn't mean they're not good." Tilghman's performance that week, a run to the state championship game, proved the point.
