77 is a lot of points Coach...

Coach Maynard did not intentionally run up the score. It was 35-16 at the half and South Floyd scored early in the 3rd to make it 35-22. Our offense and defense turned up the heat and was fortunate enough to get it at a 45 point lead to get a running clock. Coach took all the starters out but our JV scored on their starters as well. SF scored with 3+ minutes to go and Coach Maynard stalled as much as he could trying to get the clock to run down but they kicked off anyway. Our freshman deep back took it 82 yds for the score. We didn't even attempt the extra point as we continued to delay as much as possible until the clock ran out.

Exactly,A coach can put everyone he has in but he can't tell a player not to try or not to play hard.

Coach Larry Heck of Raceland (in the 70's), when a Fairview coach accused him of running the score up (in the paper no less)..."I played everyone that I had except the manager and he has a bad leg".
