A win is a win. Garrard had lost six straight to Lincoln and several times had been a big favorite. The Lions were a big favorite this evening too and raced to a 13-0 lead. Lincoln tied the game at 19-19 on the opening drive of the second half before Garrard's offense came to life and the defense buckled down. Lincoln's last score was against a Garrard prevent defense with nearly no time on the clock.

On a side note, the officiating left something to be desired this evening. Garrard was flagged for 11 penalties to Lincoln's 1 (game was in Stanford). I honestly don't think it was blatant so much as it was just laziness by the officiating crew. They were constantly out of position, they had to huddle and discuss nearly every call, and anything that happened on the Lincoln sideline that was remotely questionable was called against Garrard. I don't say this as a knock against either team, but rather you would simply hope for consistency and competence in any athletic event.
