17s SFs at 1 p.m. - Garner Road vs. BA Hoyas (court 7) and Florida Elite vs. KYA All-Stars (court 8)

 

BA Hoyas just defeated Garner Road 64-57 and will play in the finals of the Gold division. T J Warren played for the Garner Road team......UK just offered him a scholly this week. I was told that they would play Florida Elite. I don't know the score of the game between them and KYA All-Stars.

 

The finals can be seen on Ihigh at 4:45.

North Carolina standout forward T.J. Warren is having a banner week.

The 6-foot-8 Warren stood out at the LeBron James Skills Academy in Akron, Ohio, and is now playing as one of the best players at the Kentucky HoopFest.

He’s also added an offer from Kentucky and recent renewed interest from North Carolina.

He had previously narrowed it to seven with North Carolina and the six other schools that had previously offered – Louisville, Georgetown, Florida, N.C. State, Kansas and Texas. Now, Warren said he’s “open.”

“I am just enjoying it and taking it slow right now,” Warren said.

Considered one of the best scorers in the class, Warren started to enhance his national reputation with a solid showing at the NBA Top 100 Camp in June.

Warren is ranked No. 36 nationally by Rivals.com and checks in at No. 39 in both the Scout.com and ESPN.com rankings. His stock has spiked some after his play so far this week at LeBron and the HoopFest.

6-10, 265? Geez. Those Cousins kids are huge. Is he as good as his brother? Is he on the Big Blue radar?

 

Far from it I think.

 

 

Right now I think Murray State and a few others are showing interest but none of the big guys are giving him any serious looks. Of course this can all change depending on performance but right now don't think hes getting a lot of looks.

Florida Elite defeats the BA Hoyas in the finals of the 17U gold brackett by a score of 59-55. Great tourney BA Hoyas!!!!!

Anyone have a complete roster with schools for the guys who played with the Magic in this tourney? I recognized Hatton (Dixie), Green (Henry Clay), Grundy (spell check/ school?), Snyder (Ballard) and True (Highlands). Any players names/schools are appreciated.

Make it 2-for-2 for the Louisville Magic so far in July.

The Magic, made up of nine sophomores-to-be from the state of Kentucky, claimed the adidas Invitational in Indianapolis last weekend and then beat Indiana Elite 93-76 to win the 15s title in the HoopFest at the Kentucky Fair & Exposition Center.

The only loss in 13 games – over the course of seven days – came when the Magic had to forfeit the first game of the HoopFest because they were still in Indianapolis playing in the adidas event.

Dozens of Division I college coaches, including Louisville Rick Pitino, Kentucky’s John Calipari, Indiana’s Tom Crean, Purdue’s Matt Painter and more have watched the team compete and are showing interest in the players.

“That’s the big thing, for everyone to get a college scholarship where they want to go,” Central’s D’Angelo Russell said. “It’s real nice. It’s been nice.”

Russell has been the leading scorer several times but Henry Clay’s Trey Grundy and Jordan Green, Ballard’s Quentin Snider, Dixie Heights’ Brandon Hatton and Trinity’s Craig Owens all scored more than 20 points in a game during the week.

Scott County’s Christian Cunningham and Ohio County’s Justin Miller were also playing at the HoopFest. Highlands’ Nick True played in Indianapolis.

The Florida Elite team came to the Bluegrass State and grabbed a title.

Led by Florida commitment Michael Frazier, Florida Elite beat a pair of Kentucky teams in the final two games to score the title at the Kentucky Fair & Expo Center.

Frazier started the final day of the event with a 23-point effort in a 59-52 win over the Ottawa Guardsman team.

In the semifinals, Florida Elite edged KYA All-Stars 73-63 as Frazier scored 24 and was one of four players in double figures.

The Winter Garden, Fla., Olympia High School, standout finished the game with 26 points in the championship game - a 59-55 win over the BA Hoyas.

The BA Hoyas 16-year-old team competed and beat some of the best competition around this week.

With Purdue commitment Derek Willis of Bullitt East leading the way, the 16s took out the highly regarded Garner Road team – which is sponsored by NBA player David West - 64-61 in the championship game of the Eddie Ford Kentucky HoopFest at the Kentucky Fair & Exposition Center.

The Hoyas had beaten Martin’s Wolverines earlier in the day after winning three pool-play games and three more tournament games on Monday.
