The Lady 'Stangs Fast Pitch team won the school's 16th NKAC Conference Championship when they came from behind on Saturday to beat St. Henry 2-1 at Pendery Park. It was the third straight year they beat the Lady Crusaders for the Title. :thumb:

The Lady 'Stangs dominated NKAC play this year outscoring opponents 49-4 to finish 7-0. Those wins included Newport Central Catholic (7-0) St. Henry (2-1), Lloyd (10-0), Highlands (3-2), Holmes (6-0), Holy Cross (5-1) and Newport (16-0).

In todays game it was a 1-0 pitching battle between Brossart's Alicia Miller and St. Henry's Maimee Salzer thru 5 and a half innings with the Lady Crusaders holding the lead. In the bottom of the sixth, Miller opened with a single, her third hit of the day, and was replaced with courtesy runner Jaimie Reis. After a flyout to left Molly Williams doubled to right to make it second and third with one out. Allie Anstead then grounded to the left side and St. Henry tried to get reis at the plate and threw the ball away allowing both runs to score. Miller then retired the side in order in the seventh for the teams 22nd win against just 5 losses.

Tricia Kramer had two hits, Miller three.

That concluded the regular season with the 37th District looming next week at home with the Calvary/Silver Grove winner and a berth in the Region at stake.

The Region is wide open this year with three of the top teams in one District with only two advancing and Bracken County's pitcher had surgery for a broken finger. The Region is also at Pendleton County which basically will be a neutral field and close travel for Brossart.

I will admit the Mustangs have had a great season and are to be commended for it. Good luck in the post season.
