The Birds pulled away in the 2nd half led by Sam Lewis who finished with 14 and Patrick Towles scoring 15.

 

Newport is a quick, scrappy bunch who are well coached but way too small. They start 3 kids all under 5'9 but they give you 100% and speed the game up which is kind of nice.

 

A couple timely 3's by Egan and Crowley as well as a couple nice bust out layups by Lewis helped the Birds pull away in the 3rd. It wasn't pretty but it's a win and the Birds move to 8-10 on the year.

I don't know if it was the Bird's pulling away as much as it was the Wildcat's giving it away in the 3rd quarter.

Conor Crowley had like 15, not 5. The paper was wrong.

It will be nice to see Towles and Stewart together on the floor this coming Tuesday.
