Exciting high school ball game to watch in Richmond. Madison Southern, is sporting an underrated player in Ponder who hits some extremely difficult shots at the end of the ball game. Outstanding job by Woodford County on the defensive end of the floor, they are really tough in the half court defense with quick guard play and 6'6'' Jay Johnson in the middle turning back shots.

Southern battled back from down 8 in the fourth quarter to take the game into overtime off of some careless turnovers by the YellowJackets. In OT The Eagles (?) took a 4-point lead on Ponders big 3's. Before Christmas Woodford would have folded in a game like this. They fought back on a big 3 by Aaron Stover and a followed shot by Addison Hollin to take the lead with 8 seconds to go. The defensive work on the last 8 seconds was impressive by Woodford to win the game.

They did lose a lot from last year. They are still 7-6 with a couple really capable kids in Ponder and Jecks. Out of their 60 shots they took 30 threes! Dangerous if they are hitting.

Woodford seems to be the favorite in their district. Great shooters and with Johnson playing well they could compete at the regional. They will be a very tough matchup at EKU. Best of luck to Coach Hundley and the Jackets.

Good road win for the Jackets against a very underrated Southern team. I would agree that perhaps a few weeks ago, Woodford probably looses this game, I think they are showing a lot more growth here in the past few weeks.

Southern is underrated, they only play about 6 or seven kids and they play about as fast as possible. Whoever said that they are dangerous when they shoot three's is right, but also if they are not hitting they can struggle with weaker teams at times. Coach Buttry does a very good job with the limited talent that is there. I think that Aaron Ponder could play at a school like EKU or about that size and be a very valuable player. Woodford Co. had too much size for Southern and in the end that is what beat the Eagles. Good win Yellowjackets!
