Late 3s launch Seneca's upset of No. 3 Ballard

Add Seneca High School to the list of powerful boys' basketball teams in the Seventh Region. The unranked Redhawks upset previously unbeaten Ballard 90-87 Friday night to join the Bruins, Jeffersontown and Eastern as region contenders.

"That's the best game we've played in my three years here," Seneca assistant coach Demetrius Pearson said, adding that the victory was a critical one in the 27th District race.

Martez Harris scored 26 points, Logan Davis 25 and Kevin Shaw 20 as the host Redhawks (11-4) won a see-saw battle in the fourth quarter for their sixth straight victory.

The key player was Davis, a 6-foot-4 senior who hit three of his five three-point baskets in the period to keep the Bruins (15-1) at bay.

Ballard, No. 3 in The Courier-Journal Litkenhous Ratings, was led by freshman Quentin Snider with 23 points.
