Nah. I'm a Ryle homer, but I try to keep it semi-reasonable. Boone has - and has had - some terrific players. Farris, Lokesak, Reed, Krohman, Cotton, Dunaway, Deno, Laumann, Teegarden, and many others are all outstanding players. But as far as hitting, I would take Hempel over any current Boone player. I don't mean that as a slight to any of them. Teegarden is a year younger, so when he's a senior maybe I'd pick him over a senior Hempel. I just think Hempel is a better all-around hitter right now. Boone is going to be very good this year, no doubt about it.

Cooperstown, I guess time will tell if Cooper is meaningful or not. Gonna be tough to guage this one since you really don't know what they really have coming through the pipeline. Coach Beiger and his staff might have some surprising up and coming players to go along with their core group.

 

I never said they weren't going to be meaningful in general. I just don't think - knowing what kind of team Ryle should have this year - that Cooper will be a threat to them in 2011. Cooper has certainly made some nice strides and I'm familiar with several of their players. I just don't think they are at the level of Ryle/Boone/CCH/Dixie/etc... quite yet.

I really don't see any significant drop off in talent from any of last year's top teams.

 

Ryle/Boone/Conner/Dixie/NewCath/CovCath/Holy Cross/ and I'll throw Beechwood into the mix this coming year.

All should field very competitive teams.

 

I do think Cooper will sneak up on some people. They're building a nice program out there.

You are not wrong, Bertke is and will be Beechwood ace and pitch the big game he is a real gamer. Johnson has come along way and should make a nice 1 2 punch for the Tigers.
