Louisville Holy Cross 31 Bethlehem 14

Featured Replies

Holy Cross opens up district play tonight with a somewhat solid victory at Bardstown Bethlehem 31-14 . Cross sleep walked through the first half and only led 10-7 . Finally decider to play towards end of 3rd quarter and depth tool over from there . Cross needs to start games a little better in the future . Cross goes to 6-0 and now awaits Covington Holy Cross next week in what looks like a very good match-up for both teams .

It was a little bit tighter than what you're leading on, but you're correct in that the HC depth took over down the stretch.

Holy Cross had some trouble taking care of the ball in the wet conditions, which set Bethlehem up with some opportunities, but the Cougar defense was strong all game and probably saved it.

Bethlehem got a TD to cut it to 17-14 nearing the end of the third, and forced a punt when the ensuing HC drive stalled near midfield. Bethlehem took over at its own 5 and couldn't get anything done and had to punt it away. HC ended up with good field position in the early minutes of the fourth, and looked as though they were going to give it back up until QB Cameron Scott managed to evade a sack on third-and-long, squirting free for a 31-yard run down to the Bethlehem 8 in what I would call the play of the game. He took it in three plays later to make it 24-14 with about six minutes left.

Down two scores, Bethlehem threw an INT on its very first play of the next possession, and Jessie Keen broke off a long one on the next HC possession to put it out of reach.

HC returned the opening kickoff for a score, which had Bethlehem playing from behind from the get-go.

Way to go, Cross.
