How does your team utilize it's J.V. Program ?

Featured Replies

Curious......

Does your team use the J.V team as a developmental program for Freshmen, Sophomore's and Juniors ?

Just freshman and sophomore's?

Anyone not playing varsity ?

Or do some or all of your non Senior varsity starters also play J.V. ?

Are there any KHSAA or other guidelines regarding J.V eligibility ?

I don't know of any KHSAA regulations on JV, but I have always understood pretty much anyone can play except seniors.

Raceland normally has anyone not getting significant varsity time, play JV for development. What grade level that is, is dependent on what we have that particular year. Sometimes other schools in the area have either few freshmen, or no juniors to play in JV, so we play some Freshmen/Sophomore games. Normally, we play JV with our Freshmen and Sophomores because our Juniors and Seniors are playing significant varsity time. And, sometimes some of our Sophomores are getting a lot of varsity time as well.

Hey M Nation, Why are you so worried about the JV program. Time of post makes it look like you were up all night thinking about it.

There are no KHSAA rules against seniors playing JV/Reserve football.

I know of seniors that play/played JV due to never getting any action in varsity. Many will say too bad for them but I was cool with it. The kid worked hard. He simply wasn't good enough to play. JV coaches are usually pretty good about getting everyone PT so it worked out fine.
