Alicia Miller NKAC Player Of The Year

Featured Replies

The awards keep rolling in for Northern Kentucky's Top Ranked Team Bishop Brossart. Pitcher Alicia Miller was named NKAC Division II Player of the Year. She was joined on the first team by catcher Lindsay Griffith and centerfielder Paige Baynum. Miller was 28-9 this year with a .081 ERA and 224 strikeouts. Griffith batted .500 with 21 extrabasehits and 47 rbis and Baynum was one of the top centerfielders batting .385 and setting a new school fielding mark. For all selections go to: http://www.nkac.org

I vote Mel Webster as coach of the year.

He may have won his Division (II), but Coach of the Year should go to the coach who produced the most out of his/her team. So, as far as Coach of the Year for his diivsion - I guess that's a possibility, but certainly not for northern Ky. His team lost to Walton in the All 'A' and then in the last couple weeks of the season lost to Conner, and Scott in the district finals (which they have beaten 9-0 earlier in the season) and then lost in the first round of the regional. Certainly not a steller finish for a team that was ranked #1 in northern Ky. by the coaches throughout most of the season.

Well to stay atop the polls all year with the schedule those dudes played up there though was remarkable. Even maybelle was impressed and she played the game you know. They won a lot of big games and won the All A region I think. They won 28 or 29 games. If I read correctly in the Enquirer they had a big injury in the Conner game that cost them, the Walton game Maybelle and i saw it was kinda fluke. They lost a tough game to a team that went on to the semis and then had to turn around and play Walton. The thing is looking at schedules there is a case for all the dues to win or lose. Patti Oliversia at Ryle lost to St. Henry 4-2 but Brossart beat St. Henry, Ryle lost to Conner 6-1 so Oliversia wasn't that good. You can always when being negative pick out games and make your case or like some teams hunt for easy games to win a lot. The unfortunate thing was the two top teams in the 10th played the first game Clark and Brossart and an error made the difference. We saw that game as well, never miss a region game or all a state. Momma said about games like Scott "even a chicken with its head off can lay and egg once inawhile." hehe My vote for top coaching staffs are Clark, Brossart, and Montgomery because in the end the boys are always having a great year while many have retired or fired.
