South Oldham 2010

What does South Oldham need to do to improve in
2010?
What do they need to keep doing to be successful? Remember, please be constructive.

After a 3-8 campaign, all areas need at least some improvement, but there appears to be a lot of excitement with the new coach (Jamie Reed), who comes with 10 years experience as an assistant and as an Associate Head Coach from Georgia. He's had a lot of success with a myriad of offenses, from run & shoot, to the Franklin System, to the flexbone, to pro-style. Hard to say what South will wind up showing, but probably will depend upon which one of two likely QB candidates gets the nod...

South has a real window of opportunity, with some things going for them this year. The excitement of a new coach can often generate good effort / cooperation / vibes within the team and its community early on. South has 7 home games this year and an 8th game at district rival Oldham County, which is just 5 miles down the road. The schedule isn't overly soft - but it's not overly difficult, either. Some of the better teams on it are rebuilding this year. And the district looks to be down a little, overall, after Jeffersontown and Anderson County both were hit hard by graduation. From what I've seen so far, Reed is putting together a pretty good looking staff, including Blake Powers, the former IU and Meade County QB. The team has veteran players as many sophomores and freshmen started the past two years.

A lot of South's problems the last two years revolved around an offense that couldn't move the ball. That will be a priority as the inability to get anything going offensively kept the defense on the field far too long.

I heard they will be running the Flexbone on offense next year.
