June 11th the 10th regions champs will take on Ashland the 16th region champs. GRC defeated Ashland in regular season at Ashland 6-5. Your thoughts and predictions on this matchup in the state softball tourney.

Congrats to Coach McCloud and his staff on a great season. I think the difference will be the schedule. Clark played well when it counted and are playing their best of the season now beating Brossart, Nicholas and the Harrison 11-2 in the finals. Ashland Region is not one of the top regions in the state. Riverdog might be right it could be a wide margin.

GRCs schedule will help them in Owensboro. Even when they lost, they were playing good teams. I think GRC wins this one, but expect it to be a low scoring 2 run margin. Just a hunch.

I agree. GRC has played a very tuff schedule. Why the hunch of a low scoring game? Just courious.

Prep Softball: Lady Cards on a mission

The Lady Cardinals departed for the two-day tournament in Owensboro this morning. Clark (32-9) will take on Ashland Blazer (29-11) in the opening round at 10 a.m. Friday at Jack Fisher Park. The two teams met once during the regular season with Clark escaping with a 6-5 triumph over the Lady Tomcats in the Lady Bulldog Classic at Dunbar.

 

“We feel like we have a shot,” McCloud said. “We always feel like we have a shot, but this year we feel like we can play and feel like we can make some noise this year.”

The only other ranked team in the tournament, according to the final coaches' poll, is No. 25 Clark County, which faces Ashland Blazer in the first round to meet the winner of Scott County and Mercy. Jackie McCloud's Cardinals have won six in a row and 12 of their last 13 games.
