What is going on with the Rocks baseball team, they have a losing schedule and are not playing very well. This is the same class that are now seniors that started as Super Sophs only one doing much is Littrell. They appear to be burned out and not motivated to even play the game.

Does anyone have any outside news about the team. As stated earlier a couple of seniors have quit one came back, the Rocks are again playing new class of super sophs, hope the coaching staff don't ruin these guys as they have in the past. We may need a change in Rockland, does Coach Beatty :notworthy:know much about baseball?

It's easy to point the finger at coaching when kids don't develop or quit....but I think there are very few in Rockland who would want to get rid of Steve Tompkins. From what I'm hearing the senior who quit did so on his own accord without any animonsity toward the coaching the staff. It appears the hiatus Bowling took is paying off because he's crushing the ball now. By the way, they just beat 4th ranked LCA...little premature to jump out of the foxhole just yet.

Rocks have started slowly that is for sure...Tompkins as usual plays everyone the first part of the season...to see who can play and where...there are two sophomores that are beginning to shine...moved some people to the bench. Seems he has set on a lineup to stick with. Their schedule is tough. The out of state teams have beaten up on the Rocks in the beginning of the year. The team seems to be starting to turn around as early season games were not that good. Some seniors are not playing the role some would want but juniors and a couple of sophomores beat them out fair and square. It seems that your post suggests some discipline problems...I havent seen any in a couple of years. Other than a Rock got thrown out of a game in the Region that might/could/did cost the team a chance to win the Region two years ago I havent seen anything. Got any thoughts on that one? Once again...thanks for your interest in Rocks Baseball.

This team is showing symtoms of getting it together...Tompkins has settled on a rotation...moved a few guys up that can play...hard to blame a coach when guys hit a buck fifty and kick the ball around. Loaded 7th Region as usual...whoever gets out of it will be a happy bunch. Bowling is hitting the ball well...getting into baseball shape with his swing. Long season...Rocks will be ready at the end of the year.
