Exciting game at Ryle's place tonight.

 

Hensley starts for Ryle; Pugh for Conner. Ryle goes up 5-0 after 3 innings and hits the ball very well. Hensley cruises for the first 3 innings. Conner then scores 7 runs in the 4th, much of it coming from Ryle walks and an error or two mixed in. Parker Ryle hit a HR for Conner in the inning. Watson relieves Hensley in the 4th and pitches 3 1/3 solid innings. Conner adds another run in the 5th to push the score to 8-5. Ryle scores 2 runs in the bottom of the 6th, with Ryan Donovan having a key RBI base hit. In the bottom of the 7th, James Hoskins hits a game-tying HR (#4 of season) and the game goes to extra innings tied 8-8. Matt Isler holds Conner scoreless in the 8th. In the bottom of 8th, Jake Steinle singles, advances to 2B on a sac bunt, moves to 3B on a wild pitch, and then scores on Caleb Lonkard's suicide bunt. Isler gets the win; Russell the loss.

 

Ryle's defense was a bit shaky in this one. Way did a nice job in relief for Conner. Ryle's hitting leaders: Lonkard (2-5); Carney (3-4, 2B, 3B); Hoskins (2-4, HR); Etscheid (2-4); Steinle (2-4, 2B), and Donovan (2-4).

 

These are two very solid teams. It will be very interesting when district play starts.

Parker usually is the DH when Pugh catches.

Carney is heating up and Hoskins has been more than solid at the plate so far early in the season. As we all thought before the season started the 33rd will be a war.
