Going to bed now but will post sometime tomorrow after Mass and going to my Sister-in-law for Easter about this game! Just wanted to say congrats to St. Henry as they out hustled, out played and out executed CovCath today. This is not last year St. Henry team and Dixie had better be on the look out for this team in the 34th as this Cru team plays some great baseball. Again Congrats....

As promised:

The good the bad and the ugly:

The Good:

St. Henry District High School. They fielded almost every ball hit, they made the throws, they were always in position to make a play and at the plate they just made solid contact. Nothing fancy, just a solid baseball club that when they get good pitching will surprise you, if you are thinking this is last years Cru team. Beware Dixie, your owing of the 35th this season isn't a sure thing at least IMVHO. This Cru team is solid!

The Bad:

The running of the bases for CovCath today! Really, it seems the runners are just going from base to base and not being aggressive at all, on the base paths.

The Ugly:

The bats of the CovCath team today. Only four hits from a team that had pleasantly surprised me in the first four games of the season by hitting so well.

The offensive play of the game, brought to you by Pee Wee's Place:

With CovCath leading in the top of the fourth 2-1, The Cru scores four runs of which all four were unearned, to take a 5-2 lead they they never gave up.

Miller gets on via a E-5. Bibbins puts down an outstanding 1-4 SAC bunt, 1 out, man on second. Miller goes to third on a WP, then Conley get on via a E-4 but the runner holds at third. One out, men on 1st and 3rd. Bryant at the plate and on the first pitch hits a shot to left center for a Double and knocks in Miller and Conley. Two runs scored, still only one out, man on second. Peddigor up and on a 1-2 count he gets a single moving up Bryant to third. Still just one out, men on 1st and 3rd. CovCath at this point takes out Brueggman and bring in Shumate. Shumate proceeds to strike out Mankgraft on a 3-2 pitch swinging for the second out but Peddifor steals second. Knoble walks on a 3-2 to load the bases. Seified at the plate and and get a single on the first pitch to score Bryant for the 4 and final run of the inning as Shumate K Schabel on a 1-2 count.

The Defensive play of the game brought to you by BAWAC Inc.:

Again not so much any one play, but throughout the game whenever CovCath seemed to hit the ball, a Cru defender was there to make the play. Just solid play on their part throughout the entire game!

The CovCath pitching:

Brueggman 66 pitches 3 1/3 innings 20 PA 7 hits 5 runs 1 earned 2 wp's and 1 hbp Loss 1

Klein 37 pitches 2 innings 14 PA 6 hits 4 runs 4 earned runs 2 walks 2 K's

Schlagbaum 12 pitches 1 inning 3 PA 3 K's

Siemer 4 PA 1 hit 1 walk and 1 K

Warning 4 PA 1 run scored 1 hbp 1 sb and 1 fc

Reese CR and 1 sb

Gerwe 4 PA and reached base via E-5

What do you think the rematch will be like when these two rivals face off again later in the season?

You will see Gerwe pitching and IMVHO a very different lineup by Wednesday May 12 than you saw Saturday!

BTW CovCath JV defeated Cooper JV by a score of many, many runs to nothing!

That makes the CovCath JV team 4-0 on the season! Congrats gentlemen!

I could only wish! :sssh:

The one is the place I work at, and the other place is owned by a good friend, so why not have some fun and help them both out.

There are a lot of people who read these threads and instead of blowing my own horn, maybe it will bring in some business for the Not for Profit Company that I work for and my friend Restaurant.

Times are tough and you have to be creative! :D

A few thoughts on the game from on CovCath:

-Logan Siemer is the best player for the Colonels and they will go as he goes.

-Pitching is not very deep.

-The bats were cold as ever. Couldn't make solid contact but a few times.

-CovCath has a long way to go if they want to make it out of the district easily, let alone make a dent in the regional tournament.
