passtheball Posted March 10, 2010 Posted March 10, 2010 Former Manual player, Jacob Jenkins, playing high school prep for St. Thomas More is having fun during March Madness. Has helped his team into the National Prep Championship Final Four. Jenkins tallied 13 points, 5 assists, 4 rebounds, and 2 steals while hitting a clutch 3 to send it to overtime. Jenkins also made the steal with 6 seconds left and made the play to get the win in OT. Story below... 6-ST THOMAS MORE 65 d. 3-WINCHENDON SCHOOL 63 *OVERTIME* Winchendon would double-up (26-13) St. Thomas More midway through the first half but it wouldn’t stop a comeback as STM took the lead with its second unit in the game and six minutes left until a semi-finalist would be decided. Or so we thought. STM drew up a set play for its final possession and Dominique Langston (Quinnipiac) pulled the trigger on a long look from beyond the arc that missed. Andre Drummond came up with the offensive rebound while falling out of bounds but couldn’t get it to a teammate cleanly as the buzzer sounded. Langston would be called for a travel and zapped the air out of STM, and Dominique would come up with an offensive rebound late in the shot clock to give Winchendon a rest and further deflate More’s hopes. Forced to foul, More escaped missed free throws by Anthony Ireland (Loyola Marymount) and Tre Bowman would fire a long jumper, only for it to fall short and force More to foul yet again and all but concede the game. But Williams would miss free throws and Bryon Allen went the length of the floor, down three points but deciding to drive to the hoop and scoring on a pro-step that brought More within one point and now six seconds remaining. Winchendon would come out of a timeout and fight the More inbound pressure by going for the home-run pass to Ferguson racing down the court, but Jacob Jenkins would intercept it. Jenkins took it into the paint and kicked out to Bowman in the right corner, who dribbled hard to the wing and pulled-up for a jumper at the buzzer with a man in his face and right in front of his own bench. Allen finished with 17, Bowman and Langston with 15 a piece and Jenkins had several key scores down the stretch to go with the big steal at the end. Williams was the lone double-figure scorer for Winchendon with 14 points. http://www.theday.com/article/20100304/SPORT04/303049522/-1/sport

doomer Posted March 10, 2010 Posted March 10, 2010 Good luck. Is Jacob still committed (or signed) with Bellarmine?
passtheball Posted March 10, 2010 Author Posted March 10, 2010 Good luck. Is Jacob still committed (or signed) with Bellarmine? Yes and he's healthier than ever.
passtheball Posted March 12, 2010 Author Posted March 12, 2010 PTB you are the Manual MAN No more than you're the St. X GUY.
tcjkbt Posted March 12, 2010 Posted March 12, 2010 Good luck. Is Jacob still committed (or signed) with Bellarmine? Bellarmine is also getting Keiston Jones from Ballard.
passtheball Posted March 12, 2010 Author Posted March 12, 2010 Bellarmine is also getting Keiston Jones from Ballard. That is correct. They have landed a combo guard, swing forward in Jones, and now appear to be looking for a big.
gun-it Posted March 13, 2010 Posted March 13, 2010 Has Jenkins signed or just commited? Has he qualified academically? Just trying to figure out why he went the Prep School route?
passtheball Posted March 13, 2010 Author Posted March 13, 2010 Has Jenkins signed or just commited? Has he qualified academically? Just trying to figure out why he went the Prep School route? Was already qualified and is signed. Went prep so he could re-stregnthen after foot surgery which was right after the 7th region tourney last year. Made the Dean's list first semester to boot. Mission accomplished.
gun-it Posted March 13, 2010 Posted March 13, 2010 thanks, that clears it up for me. Hope he has a great career at Bellarmine.
passtheball Posted March 28, 2010 Author Posted March 28, 2010 A lot of hard work, but he did get back to where he was and might even be stronger for it.
passtheball Posted March 28, 2010 Author Posted March 28, 2010 The use of the college shot clock and the college 3-point line along with playing college level talent should help better prepar hopefully.
