Perry Central has a relatively easy route to the championship game. On the other hand, Knott Central will have to battle Breathitt County on their own floor, then Hazard (a team that they have defeated 3 times this year but always play their best BB at tournament time), and then Perry Central in the finals.

I would give Perry Central a slight edge over Knott Central. If this game happens, it will be a battle between two old war horses: Dave Fraley of KCC and Alan Hatcher of PCC. Both have Sweet 16 experience, with Fraley winning it all at Pulaski County in 1986 (he also was at Powell County when they made their first trip to the tournament in 1974), and Hatcher, who had a successful tenure at Graves County and made several trips to Rupp.

The championship game could very well be a mountain classic.
