Sandlin is invaluable with her speed and ability to handle the press. Over and over she dribbled right through traps and then hit Moss over the top for easy buckets.

 

Absolutely agree! Sandlin is the engine that makes Boone go. Her improvement at the point throught this season has been remarkable, seeing as how she hadn't previously handled those duties.

 

After a shaky first game outing Sandlin has been excellent, handling the basketball, breaking pressure, and running the break, and has an assist-to-turnover ratio of nearly 2 after that first game. That's very, very good for a high school player. And the beneficiary of a ton of her assists has been Moss.

 

And her quickness allows her to be a very pesky defender as well.

Glad to hear Heather Sandlin getting the notority she deserves. Now if we can get the other two seniors the much deserved attention they should get(Joscelyn Davis and Cortney Sellers). We tend to forget that Joscelyn was the biggest girl for Boone Counties starting team last year, and went to the elite 8. Watch Sellers and Davis work together on help defense. They are real work horses.

Last year's team was totally different than this year's team. They had no size so for the first time Fookes was forced to go with a 4-guard offense and open up the floor. This year...it's "toss it up to Moss and let her go get it". Davis, Sellers, Shrout, and everyone else are now role players...even though they are so critical to the success of the team...role player's are overlooked.

 

With Moss they are 19-3...without Moss they are probably around .500...

 

They are winning with her so the role player's get overlooked, but if they are sub .500 without her...the whole team would be overlooked...so it's a double-edge sword.

 

I've said several times...opponents need to stop putting all of their focus on Moss because she will get hers...the focus needs to be on "the little engine that could".
