February 2, 201016 yr I'm going to use an accountant this year for the first time. What should I expect to pay? Pretty simple stuff. I have a house a couple of kids nothing crazy. Really depends....I know where I work, you aren't going to escape without paying at least $150, and that's for a return that might take an hour...
February 2, 201016 yr Why not use Turbo Tax? Pretty simply to use and for someone like you - not an overly complicated situation - it would be perfect. The Deluxe version allows you to file both your state and federal electronically. $49 at Sam's. I think it is time I have a professional look into my taxes. I had a relative do it for several of years and he had made a few mistakes that I happened to catch. He was an accountant, but not a tax specialist. I'm OK with the $150-$200 price range. Maybe they can find a way to save me that much extra??
February 4, 201016 yr Wow, just did my taxes (TurboTax) last night and very depressing. We got hammered by that dang AMT (Alternative Minimum Tax). It had hurt our refund the last few years, but this year was painful. Simply a very, very unfair tax. I saw a stat that this tax affected 14,000 people back in 1969 when it was enacted to ensure rich people paid their fair share of taxes. It now affects some 38 million people because it has only been indexed for inflation twice in the past 40 years. Seems fair. :irked:
February 6, 201016 yr I just did mine the other day and I am really excited about what I am getting back now. I never thought it was going to be that much.:dancingpa Some kind of school credit helped out a lot.
