That seems to be a really fair, efficient, and easy way to get a good picture of the state for a given year, especially later on in the season when the sampling pool has been expanded with more games played.

 

Like I said; not particularly scientific. However, I have a modest background in statistics, experimental design, etc. This seems to be a reasonable way to get a snapshot. As you said (in so many words); there's not much point in using Lit/Cantrall until about this time of year.
