East Carter 58 West Carter 48

Final from Olive Hill East moves to 5-0 in district play and locks up the #1 seed for the 62nd district tournament.

I feel like WC gave this one away. It was my first time watching East this season and besides Barnhill I was not impressed at all. West had too many turnovers and took too many bad shots. I haven't watched very many HS bball games this season but I left the game feeling like WC was the better team.

East Carter's guard play was disappointing to me and IMO will be the reason they do not make a serious run at the regional title. Barnhill is obviously a heck of a player though. The 16th must be extremly down this season.

Also, how can anyone not like Derrick Lawson's game? Dude is a workaholic, blue collar, maximum effort kind of guy, that sophomore has some game. Rayburn, Lawson, and KBrown are going to be a nasty trio in the near future IMO.

Off night all the way around for easts guards. They showed a couple good plays and layed down alot. They are alot better than the way they played.

They had better hope so if they want a chance to win the region IMO. I've never seen an East team with such poor guard play.

IMO opinion it was bad guard play all around West guards had a lot of trouble with East press plus a lot of unforced turnovers just dropping balls out of bounds etc. I agree East was bad but West was as bad or maybe even worse.

True. But most don't count WC in among the serious contenders in the region this season and were playing without their best player. Take Barnhill off of East and they probably win about 8-10 games this season at best. Same with Elliott if Knipp wasn't there.

If East wants to be a contender the guard play has to get better. Comparing it to West Carter's does nothing to change that fact. You also have to remember that without Rayburn WC's two go-to guys are Lawson and Brown who are youngsters.

Agree they did not play well Friday but they have at times their problem is to inconsistent they have played well Christian County and Elliott Co. where Barnhill only played about half of the game. But agree they need to play better to win region. Tuesday's game with Ashland will go a long way to show where they stand.

^I wasn't trying to bash East. I always want them to win when they are not playing WC. They just have some major work to do IMO. Barnhill is very good but one player will not be able to win the region.

I dont think you could say a off night for all of East Carters guard play. Besides Caleb Adams there hasnt been any consistent play the whole year by the Raider guards.

^If that's true is going to be tough for East to make a run at the regional title. Barnhill's good but one player, especially a post player is tough to solely depend on mainly because of potential foul trouble and turnovers.
