CovCath 54 Cov Holmes 40 Freshmen

 

CovCath took a 16/9 first quarter lead on the shooting of Nick Frederick and some very good "D" from the young Colonels.

 

They increased their lead to 33/15 in the second quarter even without starting guard Cameron Murphy who was taken out when he picked up his second foul but Kellen Jenkins did an outstanding job in his place and Frederick keep making his shots. Young Frederick went 3/4 from behind the arch and 3/4 from the charity line in the first half to lead the Colonels but it wasn't without the help of Ward and Pauly who controlled the boards and kept the heat on the Holmes players. Zach Tobler had 8 points in the first half with 2 field goals and 4/4 from the charity line.

 

Holmes was led by #10 Palmer who had 6 first half points.

 

The third quarter found CovCath leading by a score of 46/27 but this half it was Pauly not only scoring 6 points but again playing some great "D". Cov Holmes put on a small run at the end of the game to bring the margin of victory for CovCath to 14 but the victory was never in doubt.

 

Was impressed with young Frederick, Pauly, and Ward but honestly this CovCath team wins game by playing as a team, as they seem to feed off each other success. They indeed are fun to watch!

CovCath improves their record to 11-2 and next play Newport Central Catholic at CovCath on Friday 1-15-10 in a CovCath vs NewCath triple header, starting with the Freshmen game at 4:15pm.

 

CovCath fans, if you haven't seen your young Freshmen play this year, you really are missing out on seeing a very polished TEAM of Colonels Freshmen Basketball Players. Come on out to watch them play, you can thank me later!
