The regular season has ended. I have heard and read about the "progress" for the Colonels this year but as the season ends the Colonels record does not look much different than the last couple of years. Like the last couple of years, they were defeated handily by the top tier teams they played and the record is at .500, finishing the season at 5-5. So where was the progress this year and what has caused Colonel fans to feel better this year than the past two years? Will the Colonels get back on the winning side of .500 next year?

What's your measuring stick?

I have heard from some NKY football followers who've seen CCH play the past few years that the CCH players gave a much better effort this year than last year. It's always hard to judge CCH just by looking at their W-L record, since they play such a demanding schedule. I think the "progress" being talked about is in reference to the CCH players and fans being much more "on board" with the current coach and his philosophy/leadership, and not about straight-up wins and losses.

 

It will be interesting to see how CCH does in the playoffs. I believe they host Woodford County in the first round... that's definitely a winnable game for CCH. Then it would likely be a game at Johnson Central, a team that struggled quite a bit early in the season but seems to be playing good ball lately.

Yes, they are making progress - without question.

 

Can't answer that second one without knowing what the schedule is. I learned a long time ago not to put too much into the overall W/L record at CCH. You have to watch weekly to see if they are improving. You can't just watch the scoreboard and read BGP.

 

Look back to the Ryle and LexCath threads and you'll see it littered with "long year for CCH" references.
