CovCath defense has been strong this postseason.

What an outstanding game by CovCath on both ends of the pitch and what a weapon #9 Matt MacDonald is with the ball in his hands.

 

Both scores were off set plays one on a thrown in and another on a really nice free kick that was almost put on the shooter head.

 

Montgomery County has three or four outstanding strikers/forwards who have some amazing skills but they couldn't shake the CovCath Fullbacks and my 2nd baseman Logan Siemer.

 

The men in shorts called nothing tonight and allowed the players to play hard and tough football. While I personally prefer the game to be called a little more closely, the men in shorts did do a good job in keeping the few calls even.

 

CovCath moves on to play at Toyota Stadium on the campus of Georgetown College on Wednesday 11/4 @ 6pm in the semi-finals against Louisville St. Xavier who beat South Oldham by a score of 4-0.

Heady play puts CovCath in semis

 

Heading a speeding soccer ball, in a crowd, for a score against a talented opponent in the state tournament is not as easy as Sam Mullen is making it look, said Covington Catholic coach Al Hertsenberg.

 

The CovCath sophomore scored a goal on a head ball for the third postseason game in a row Wednesday night, and the Colonels defeated physical Montgomery County 2-0 at Dixie Heights.
