North Laurel wins over Clay County 2-0 in the final game. North went 4-0 in the tourney and only lost 1 set. Teams in the tournament were: North Laurel, Clay County, Madison Southern, McCreary Central & Perry Co Central. (Lincoln was supposed to be in it, but due to the flu and cancellation of all school functions this past week, they had to drop out and McCreary stepped into their place).

 

Clay County beat North Laurel earlier in the season.

 

This sets up an interesting game in the 1st round of the district tournament where Clay and North drew each other. One of them will be going to region and the other will be going home, even though they are the top 2 teams in the district. One of the reasons I dislike the blind draw.

This is the most consistent I have seen NL play this season. They seemed very relaxed and focused for nearly the entire tournament. They beat Clay 2-0 who had beaten them 2-0 just a few weeks ago and they beat McCreary who they had split with earlier this season in McCreary's tournament. They are starting to really hit their stride, and with the postseason starting next week, it is the right time to be peaking.

It sure is the right time to be hitting their peak. Congrats to North Laurel and good luck in the post season.
